Essay

Each year during the winter time, women love to shop for their favorite boots at Old Navy where they are offered at affordable prices. The contemporary world in which we live in attaches great value to beauty and fashion. The affordable prices offered by Old Navy are the main reasons why each and every buyer wants to spend his/her money in the company.

The Us Weekly Magazine is a celebrity magazine that was founded in 1977 by the New York Times Company. The magazine covers a wide range of topics which include celebrity relationships and advertisements detailing the latest trends in fashion, beauty and entertainment.  The individuals in charge of the Us Weekly are Janice Min and Publisher Victoria Lasdon Rose i.e. as of the year 2007. The magazine circulates an average of over 1.85 million copies daily (Wikipedia).

When women see various advertisements in the US Weekly magazine, especially during winter, indicating that Old Navy is retailing them at fifteen dollars only per pair, they tend to purchase the latest trends in boots at Old Navy owing to the attractive price offers.  The readers of the US Weekly are in a position to visualize the variety in terms of colors and styles besides the affordable price of all the boots available at Old Navy, and this lures them to go and purchase these goodies; this also enhanced by the fact that these boots fits the winter season.

Old Navy is an American brand of clothing and chain of stores owned by Gap Inc. The current president of Old Navy is Tom Watt and he took over following the resignation of the former president Dawn Robertson, on February 18, 2009. Old Navy has diverse styles of boots and clothes for man, woman, and children i.e. for all ages and retails them at affordable prices (Wikipedia).

The purpose of this advertisement in US Weekly is to maximize Old Navy’s sale of boots. The advertisement enables individuals to visualize the boots in a diversity of styles in addition to their corresponding affordable prices and this lures them towards purchasing them. Old Navy has advertised its boots through a red sign informing the public on “How-To Holidays with the Super Madelquins.” The word as applied in the Old Navy’s boots advertisement, informs the public that they can either buy the boots for themselves, for friends or for any other person over the holiday season.

The Ethos of the boots advertisement is that Old Navy is using the right language through red colors for the holiday season. Since Old Navy has been in existence for a long time as an American Brand and the fact that it offers a coupon in the US Weekly magazine, is another good reason for the readers to go and buy boots there, and stay comfortable over this winter season’s holiday.

The Pathos of this boots’ advertisement by Old Navy is that seeing these latest trend boots with such an affordable price, renders individuals to feel that they have missed or dissatisfied if they don’t manage to go and buy them. Emotional feelings of an individual gets involved the minute he/she admires these boots, and upon seeing the price that he/she can afford; this is another second reason for wanting to buy them.  The manner in which the Old Navy presents the option to buy the boots for all ages is the third reason as to why the emotions of an individual gets involved especially if one has kids, nephews  or nieces unto whom he/she can as a present for this holiday season.

The Logos of this boots’ advertisement by Old Navy is that, one is in a position to compare the prices being offered with that of different stores. This will enhance clarity on the fact that the prices at Old Navy stores are more affordable and hence individuals are more likely to go and buy them there. In addition, the advertisement allows an individual to go and check as to whether the other stores are offering different styles of boots and at different prices. The price concept will determine where the buyers will acquire their preferred boots because; buyers (especially women) generally love shopping for those things that are easily affordable.

Old Navy boasts of a number of facts: first, when one gets inside the stores, the sales staff is very friendly and are always ready and willing to assist with what the customer needs; the stores for Old Navy are of an average size and all clothes are well organized such it is not hard for an individual to find what he/she is looking for; Old Navy stores are located in various parts around Houston and outside the mall where people are willing to check first prior to checking the other stores; Old Navy offers a wide range of clothing and boots, and if people happens to see cute boots in an advertisement, say in US Weekly magazine or any other  magazine, they are more likely to buy clothes that matches the boots under one roof; Old Navy offers summer, fall and winter clothes (i.e. all seasons) and for all ages in the latest trend that everyone is looking forward to buy them at the best price offer.  Each and every woman wants to be comfortable and to stay in style throughout the year, as one way of appreciating themselves, and if they are feeling happy about themselves, then they are going to act in a positive way that is healthy for their life style.
