Pages: 1

Words: 284

Essay

In the organizational setting management is characterized by innovation and adaptability in respect to the information age principles of management. The information age principles of management dictate that the basic needs and motivation of individuals play a central role in the process of management. Accordingly, this principle of management provides the acknowledgement of individuals in the organization and puts into consideration the principles of humanity. This principle considers individuals as having four dimensions that are the body, the spirit, the heart, and mind. These dimensions impliedly represent the basic and motivational needs of individuals. In this regard, the body represents the desire of the individual to survive while the mind has attachment to the need of the employee to grow, learn, and develop. The spirit provides the desire to contribute to the organization while the heart provides a sense of attachment to the organization.

The characteristics of the information age principles in the organization’s management further augmented by the motivational incentives adopted by the organization. While the industrial principles of management focus more on decision-making by leaders and disregard employee motivation and lacks incentive information age principles, embrace these concepts. Therefore, from the motivational practices used by the organization fit into the information age principles. Conversely, the organization employs concepts that ensure that all individuals are involved in the process by taking into consideration the views of its employees as well as ensuring that the work environment facilitates participation. Industrial principles of management, on the other hand, do not involve participation and only focuses on micromanagement of subordinates. The approach adopted by the organization aims at tapping on the talents and skills of employee while giving back to the employees through employee development and motivation.
