How can you locate health care resources? What health care resources are you familiar with? How did you locate information on those resources?

I can very easily locate health care resources through internet. All I have to do to search the topic for instance “acid reflux.” I also know different websites of local hospitals of PubMed by the National institute of health www. Ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed via www.pubmed.com and national healthcare related associations such as the American Gastroenterology Association.

Are you currently employed in a health care setting? If not, explain your interest in providing care or resources in the future.

I am not employed in healthcare industry but I have seen an incredible work of outpatient rehabilitation therapists does. I think Rehab Medicine would be a good fit for me.

Do you feel you have sufficient access to services as a consumer or provider? Explain your response.

As a consumer, I have access to different services. On the other hand if I became a provider I would have facilities at which I might work. My hometown is set in a top 15 largest metropolitan areas around, which has a population of almost three million people. There are major teaching hospitals, each of which have children’s hospitals and because both versions are growing by opening new campuses and facilities by means of area. Numerous a wide range of smaller hospitals around. Provided Rehab departments with all the hospitals, you see private practitioners’ offices, like a Physical Therapy group’s office.

How often do you search for health care resources or information? Explain your answer.

I always look for information when I get sick or injured or if I need to know more about my medicine.

Are you able to find resources for health care questions promptly? Explain your response.

I am able to find information for healthcare in seconds. All I need is internet and computer. I can google almost anything and can find information. All I have to do is to type a keyword on google.com and it can give me hindered of resources and other descriptive I am in that search. I also have good relationship with my doctor , nurses and pharmacist and can get an answer of my question in few min through phone or email.

Do you have delays in accessing services or in directing individuals to services, resources, or specialists? Explain your response.

No, I don’t have any delays in accessing services or in directing individuals to services, resources, or specialists. I have been seeing only one doctor for 19 years and available to me anytime. He was also a professor at some teaching hospitals, and he knows the whole system very well. Now as far as directing other people to services , there is biggest hospital in that areas has a “dial a recommendation” line.

Have you personally or professionally noticed any changes in the way health care information or services are researched or accessed? Explain your response.

Yes, I have noticed that my personal health related information is accessible online. I can see my results and if I have any questions regarding my medical health , I can email my doctor confidentially and get the response directly from the doctor.

Are you finding that there is an increase or a decrease in options for finding or researching information about health care resources? How does this benefit or hinder health care professionals and consumers? Explain your responses.

I have greater access to my own healthcare information, and use of the Internet makes it easy to research anything. There is even an online medical library at http://mybjc.org.

Do you feel confident in asking the following individuals about available health care services or resources? Explain your answers.

• Physicians

Doctors know their chosen field very well. Even for doctor if there is some room for improvement regarding their manners, if I go to ENT regarding my sleeping disorder then I think doctor would be the person I would like to ask everything whatever I want to know.

• Nurses and Other allied health professionals

I have been to hospital several times and I always would say that the doctors fix people with their magic wand but the nurses and other professionals are the one who work really hard to get the patient out the door.

Are today’s patients well informed prior to going to health care appointments?

Yes today’s patients are well informed because of online resources where they can get a lot of information prior to going to health care appointments. Now a days doctors and hospitals have their own websites with bunch of information about everything. Drug companies have their own websites regarding the specific drug they manufacture.

If you could change one aspect of how you locate health care information or connect to services, what would it be? Why?

If I could change one aspect of how you locate healthcare information or connect to services then I would do it. Several times I don’t want to get bundled of information online and which makes it hard to choose anything from that. I would like to have service where we can get information on the phone from nurses about specific condition and want to ask a general questions from a real person. I know one of the children hospital has 24/7 nurse line but it is just for pediatric cases not for adults.
