Personal Quality of Life Activity, Creative Essay Example

Each of us needs to find things that we love that add to the quality of our personal lives. Long ago I was lucky to learn that one of my favorite things is country music. I also discovered that, unlike most people, I love the excitement that comes from being in the company of large groups of people. My other passion is to eat authentic Mexican food. From time to time I have been able to put all three of these preferences together by dining at my favorite eatery and then going to our area arena for a live performance. My calendar is marked for my next concert experience, now only a few days away. My friends and I are going to load up on spicy fajitas and then drive on over there to join 15,000 other fans for the Martina McBride- Trace Adkins “Shine All Night Tour.”

Aside from actually doing the concert thing, the next best thing is the preparation for it and the anticipation of it. I make sure that I have all of the latest CDs of the artists that I will be hearing, and I make sure that I have memorized all of the lyrics (I sing along at the concert). I always save enough money for a souvenir T-shirt (I buy this the moment I get there, run in the restroom, and wear it during the show).

I really enjoy the memories that are created from going out to eat and from the spectacular lights, sounds, and other highlights that the country artists bring with them. It is an expensive hobby but well worth every penny. I get my money’s worth by having a good time. It is hard to put a value on good times over great food while listening to awesome music. Twenty years from now I know that I will remember every concert I have attended –maybe not the number of fajitas I have consumed, but the concerts!
