Politics Is the Science of Controlling the Government, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 262

Essay

Political basically means anything pertaining to politics. Politics is the science of controlling the government. Race actually is a challenging topic because it is one that brings out the passionate, and often outspoken, side of many people.

Race is not classified along biological lines or genetics, but along cultural and political lines. In the past, minorities had less power and they were thought to be ‘beneath’ the ‘superior’ race. Now, however, it seems the minority groups have gained the upper hand and actually have more power because of their ancestry. There are programs, loans, and scholarships offered to them that are not offered to those in the majority race (normally the Caucasian race).

As the times have changed, so have the ethnicities, and there is now such a mixture of interracial children that it is hard to distinguish black from white. Many have argued there is a need to add a multicultural segment to the census to account for all of the biracial and multiracial individuals in the country, but interesting enough, the minority groups have not supported this because they have felt it would decrease their political power and ability to offer the extra incentives of being part of the minority group.

To be quite honest, it does not matter in today’s society if a person is black or white or multicolored, in some way either our ancestors or us have faced struggles or adversity and we have risen above it to become stronger. This is what the human society does, has done, and will do long after the debates over ethnicity are over.
