Prevent the Legislation from Passing, Creative Essay Example

This letter regards my opposition to SB1234.  I do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants for several reasons. In the first place, illegal immigration is – illegal and should be treated as such.  I’m sure you would not support amnesty for any other category of crime and I would expect that enforcing our nation’s immigration laws would be equally important to you.

Considering the current state of our economy, allowing the legalization of millions of illegal immigrants would be counterproductive in reviving it.  With unemployment hovering near 10%, the influx of millions more illegal immigrants flooding into the US to take advantage of this “open door” will introduce unnecessary competition in an already difficult job market.

I feel very strongly about this issue and I share that feeling with many of my friends.  SB1234 will not be good for my community and will not be good for our country.  This bill is an “easy way out” of a challenging immigration problem.  We need leaders to find real solutions to this problem – not just vote for a bill that legalizes the status quo.  I assure you that your vote on this bill will affect my vote in November.
