Essay

Introduction

Whenever, new project is initiated, the scope of the projects is usually set before the project start, however, along the way, there may be need for changes in the scope of the projects which might the projects managers could not have noticed before. Whenever there is need for a change in the scope of the projects and project scope change request is made and agreed, the projects manager should come up with a system that can accommodate the changing scope of the projects

Our proposed system is called collaborative project leader. With the projects leader a projects manager can increase the efficiency and speed of projects management while reducing potential delays in schedule and risks associated with non delivery. There are usually many change drivers in a projects management such as changes in the business need, new channels, globalization, need to exploit new technology”” (Meredith & Mc Mullen, 2008, p. 6).

Control Program Costs

The proposed system (project leader) is able to monitor the overall performance of the number of projects in advance without straining from the start to completion. Factors such as actual based performance forecast which are the major projects performance indicators that are configurable will be detected before problems arises as proactive action will be fostered, in this way the projects will be kept on track (Baker, B.   2002).. The proposed system will also be able to automatically collect and make a summary of cost details across a number of projects to facilitate easy control of projects cost at every step, with the project leader; the projects manager can easily group information and organize the information in a spread sheet to enable the projects stakeholders understand the variances easily.

The proposed system (project leader) will have a dash board that enables the wider projects team and the executive stakeholders review and share the key performance indicators in the projects in just one view. The dashboard will be user friendly will be easy to navigate. The cost worksheet will provide comprehensive cost information on cost by displaying the various cost categories across projects while keeping tab of contract duration and cost. All critical activities will be reviewed through quick reference to the dash board.  Critical issues like projects cost overruns and time lags of projects that have fallen behind schedule. The project leaders’ dashboard will also display any outstanding items in the projects like RFI, changes in the scope of projects as well as turn around times and contract performance”” ( Sonia Dahab, p. 3).

The overall output of the project leader is done through an interactive visual display of Gantt charts, graphs, tables’ etc making capacity planning an easy work for projects of any size and type while delivering a superior quality projects execution at each level. The system will also have internet access to current projects information like latest drawings, daily logs in addition to

From figure 1 above, we see that the proposed project fully supports the two types of resource planning; both the top-bottom and bottom to resource panning. All resources requirements can be mapped out for both the equipment and personnel across the entire to ensure an appropriate capacity is available at hand. (Anantatmula, V. S.   2008). the projects manager can filter the requirement of resources by the roles or by equipment types thereby enabling organization to understand the future requirement of the projects before the actually day
