Case Study

Project management is critical in most careers and has grown to show significance in the classroom. The universal fundamental of this discipline has seen the methodology of project management adapt to create new services, refurbish aging operations, and organize events among others. From the article, it is evident that project management is a talent worthy of being developed. Therefore, it is necessary for individuals engaging, in projects, to comprehend and conceptualize the characteristics of project management in order to attain success in undertaken projects (Larson & Gray, 2011). Today, project management aspects are emphasized in many areas because they encompass many disciplines and cover a large area in the global environment. The global environment has been able to teach project managers the aspects of having multidisciplinary activities to be able to attain skills and knowledge for future use. Decision making in decision making process by project managers represents efficiency and efficacy in attaining organizational goals and objectives.

Global project management is an aspect that looks into fostering sustainability issues and thus, organizations remain competitive. It is essential for project managers to understand these concepts and relay them to the life cycle of projects. It is evident that the efforts of the project start slowly, then builds to a peak, and eventually declines to project delivery to customers. Performance accountability and measurement is the integrative approach applied today by project management as it aligned internal resources of the business with the changing environment requirements (Meredith & Mantel, 2011). The changing business environment is an aspect that has made project managers on their toes in terms of maintaining their standards in the global realm.

My personal insight on project management characteristics is the fact that it is non-routine with unique elements. This aspect kept me thinking of how interesting it is to pursue a project to succession with the help of a project manager. The functional specialty is also another characteristic that needs to be considered by many organizations concerning project implementation. The many departments present in an office setting are not present in projects because it requires the specialists combined efforts. Through working together, project participants are able to share ideas, opinions, and experiences and with this, they merge their ideas. This helps them to overcome existing problems that arise along the way as concerns unsolved problems and technology breakthrough. Furthermore, good project managers are in demand always since they are typically linked directly to customers. Therefore, the managers manage to retain existing tension between expectations of customers and project feasibility and reasonability (Tonnquist, 2009).

The article uses real examples of companies that have successfully completed projects. This information gives readers an insight of what the article is talking about and updates them on current happenings in the discipline if project management. From the manager’s point of view, project management is a vital tool that helps in ascertaining the most important tools and processes to apply to projects for positive outcomes (Meredith & Mantel, 2011). Training methods in the global realm are on-going and covers potential risks and best practices of project management. Real projects need to be reinforced by training concepts and theories.

In conclusion, project management and global project management are aspects that need to be incorporated in disciplines in the classroom. This gives a comprehensive understanding, knowledge and skills for attaining corporate social responsibility in organizations. Decision making process in project management is associated with project experiences and goals. Managers of projects ensure that organizations missions, values, and goals are attained.
