Think about professionalism in nursing practice as the act of keeping promises. Tell us the promises that you make to clients. How do these promises demonstrate your professionalism?

According to various medical based studies and reports, nurses are usually are usually expected to conduct their medical and health care practices based on ethics, moral values and policies (Dorman, & Middaugh, 2009). The medical activities of nursing practices towards patients are basically the act of keeping promises. This is because nurses are usually expected to treat their patients with a lot of respect, dignity and compassion as outline in their medical ethics and code of conduct. Nurses are also expected to promote health care safety of patients regardless of the backgrounds (Dorman, & Middaugh, 2009).  Furthermore, nurses should also ensure that they maintain high ethos of professionalism while dealing with their clients such as patients (Dorman, & Middaugh, 2009).

Nurses are also expected to make the right choices towards the treatment of the patients despite the consequences (Dorman, & Middaugh, 2009). Professional integrity and practices such as adherence to the law, awareness all social issues in the medical profession as well as showing compassion for the sick and the suffering are some of the promises that nurses are expected to fulfill in the society (Leddy, 2006).  A number of medical experts also argue that nurses should provide their clients with necessary relevant, informative and reliable information concerning their health in a professional manner (Gokenbach, 2012). Nurses also have the duty and social responsibility of maintaining high levels of competence, personal and professional growth as well as providing high quality health care services (Gokenbach, 2012).   Finally, nurses should have positive attitudes, the willingness to help others as well as the ability to care for others and to be trusted by their clients (Gokenbach, 2012).

The nursing profession has been shaped by many great nurses throughout history. How will you help to shape the future of nursing? What is the role of professional organizations in shaping the future? What is the responsibility for professional nurses to belong to these organizations?

According to Leddy and Pepper’s conceptual bases of professional nursing medical reviews, it is clear that there are various practices that have shaped the nursing profession including socio-cultural issues, political as well as other health care delivery systems (Hood, 2013). There are also various ethical and moral nursing roles towards client care in the society (Nursing, 2006). The moral and medical ethics also require nurse’s practices to be based on high professional ethics. Nurses should also consider clients affective, behavioral as well as emotional and psychological needs of their clients (Hood, 2013). Professional medical organizations also play a major role towards the promotion of ethical and moral ethical practices and standards (Gokenbach, 2012).

Therefore, as one of the nurses in the society I am aiming at promoting my personal and professional nursing skills and experience in order to provide my patients with the best high quality medical care. I will also employ digital and technological tools in my professional nursing practices in order to promote my clients needs and medical services.  I will consider the socio-cultural backgrounds of my clients, their emotional needs and well as psychological well-being.
