Reducing Divorce Rates, Outline Example

Problem

The problem is divorce rates are increasing to catastrophic numbers in the United States. In the United States, there are approximately 2.4 million marriages each year and 1.2 million dollar divorces each year (Divorce Resource,2015). The paper will be examining possible solutions that would decrease the number of divorces each year.

Pre-Marital Counseling

It should be mandatory that every couple completed “Pre-Martial” counseling before getting married. According to Joseph & Subhashini (2012), pre-marital counseling does help prevent divorces because the sessions discusses hidden fears, personal misconceptions and anxieties about the marriage.

Solutions

Many couples do not have time to ask all the questions about each other in the beginning of the relationship. The solution is before the couple can obtain a marriage license they must complete a pre-marital counseling session. The counseling will ask the tough questions and make sure they understand their commitment and sacrificed required in a marriage. This solution would decrease the number of divorces in the country.

Stefania Marcassa, PH. D is an Assistant Professor at University de Cergy-Pontoise. She received her PH. D in Economics in 2009 from University of Minnesota. She has qualified background specializing several research areas such as Economics, labor Economics, Applied Microeconomics and Family economics. In addition, she is published in the Journal of Macroeconomics.

Joseph, C., & Subhashini, R. Both authors have social work and psychology backgrounds and they are qualified to answer the questions concerning possible solutions for lowering divorce rates. Catherine Joseph is an Assistant Professor Department of Social Work, Stella Maria College and R. Subhashini is an Assistant Professor Department of Psychology.

Eric Foner is an American historian on the faculty of Columbia University. He is in the History department and specializes in writing about the history of freedom and civil rights.
