TOPIC #1: Should Transportation Security (TSA) regulations be changed?

This topic on changing the current regulations of the Transportation Security Administration has been chosen because of its great relevancy in today’s United States in connection with maintaining and improving current regulations related to public transportation systems. The audience for this topic would be the general American public and the officials responsible for creating and altering current TSA regulations and bylaws. THESIS STATEMENT: By changing and/or improving upon current TSA regulations, every American would feel safer when traveling by air, train, ship, or a combination of all three of these public transpiration systems.

TOPIC #2: Should regulations be changed regarding genetically altering plants/and or animals?

This topic has been selected because of the recent controversies over genetically altering food and animals in order to produce not only more food sources but also to eliminate the need to utilize chemicals for growth and protection from naturally-occurring pests. The audience for this topic would include the American public (the highest number of food consumers), food growers and producers, and food retailers. THESIS STATEMENT: Although many Americans are opposed to the practice, genetically altering food sources would increase our ability to feed the hungry and would make many forms of foods safer to consume.

TOPIC #3: Should the US develop more energy sources such as solar power and wind energy?

This topic has been chosen because the growing need for new energy sources in the United States in order to replace existing sources that rely upon burning fossil fuels, not to mention the continuing debate over climate change and the Greenhouse Effect. The audience would include all American consumers and existing entities that generate power by burning fossil fuels like coal to generate electricity and other forms of power. THESIS STATEMENT: By creating and developing new alternative energy sources like solar and wind power, geothermal power, and non-nuclear energy generators, the current crisis over the depletion of energy sources, especially coal and other fossil fuels, could be eliminated while also lowering energy costs to consumers and helping to protect the natural environment.
