Introduction

This paper is based on evaluating the role of mobile devices and networking technology in the enhancement of business operations and patient care in hospitals. Due to the emergence and advancement in new technologies, more business and hospitals are transforming towards the Internet use to give its staff and customers the required information they need. The Hospital ‘Fuller-Patton Community’ is also one of the hospital that is very keenly interested in the accurate information and giving up to date information to the patients, medical personnel and staff. Fuller-Patton hospital also would like to initiate the service of web which will also help its patients to look into the information relating to healthcare and wellness and for refilling of pharmacy (West, 2012). Fuller Patton would also like to give the information access to patient on the devices such as mobiles. But the question arises that whether social media websites such as Facebook, twitter, Instagram should be added because there can be issues of confidentiality and privacy. So, there is a possibility that there may be misinformation that maybe be posted by the stakeholders or customers (Vera et al., 2012).

Role of Social Networking and Mobile Devices in Patton-Fuller business operations

The systems of business help the companies to meet the demands of the customer for an efficient and speedy services delivery. With the evolution and advancement in internet, most of the systems of business which were traditional now has been forced to move to implement these technologies to cope up with competition (West, 2012). This implementation of technology has reevaluated the business operations and system of the companies and have changed the ways in which they used to do business. There are new opportunities available and because of these technologies there is an ultimately increase in the sales and performance in these companies.

There are many systems of business functions which supports the process of business across the organization (Vera et al., 2012).  These designed system specifically to aid in the sales, finance, accounting, warehousing, human resources and other functions in making the roles of these business systems more efficient (West, 2012). These systems are united internally as well as with the complementing partners who systems may be different. Implementation of the Enterprises systems and Cross functional systems helps the hospital to unite all these operations. Patton Fuller can use the networking to maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Resource Planning of Enterprise (ERP) and management of Supply Chain (SCM). The hospital can also enhance its collaboration and communication with the help of Collaboration Enterprises System (ECS) and this will also help the groups and teams internally and externally.

The integration of social networking and the mobile devices with that of business operations will help Patton-Fuller Hospital to enhance its return on investments (ROI) as the business will be more efficient and profitable (West, 2012). The positive impacts of social networking will allow better communication between the patients and the business operations of the hospital. However, the negative aspect of this networking can be on the privacy and the confidentiality of the patient information. Apart from that, the Human capital and the business system of this hospital relies heavily and needs to be maintained. Because of this flaw, the communication between the departments is not clear (Vera et al., 2012).  So, the implementation of the mobiles devices will aid them in proper communication channels with the department as well as with the patients.

Conclusion

In order to integrate the business system with that of networking and mobile systems the Patton-Fuller hospital needs to upgrade its existing communication system. The hospitals can give a more speedy delivery of service to the customers and patients with the help of these mobile devices (Vera et al., 2012). However, the hospital needs to enhance its network capability to reduce the traffic over the internet which may cause connectivity issues. They need to enhance their server and invest heavily in the infrastructure to have a state of the art networking and movie device system (West, 2012). In short, this will help the company to deliver better patient care and health services information to the customers in the present as well in the future.
