Salary Scale at Ben and Jerry’s Corporate, Case Study Example

Pages: 1

Words: 323

Case Study

In an organization, every worker, regardless of the post or role played towards the success of the organization is crucial. Approximately 80% of present organizations will not see unto this, as they consider those holding top managerial positions as the only eloquent persons in the company. The 5-1 salary scale remarkable and should not drop. It considers the plea of the staff serving the company at lower levels. The company aims at avoiding the culture of overpaying the top management team, while underpaying the lower level employees as most American corporate does. We salute the CEO and top management team for their unique decision of a kind.

However, it worth noting that skilled and professional top managers who effectively run the company compares their pay with others. The comparison shows that employees holding similar positions in other companies have a better pay. Now, the probability that this person resigns from the company given a chance is very high. The 5-1 salary scale culture attains at the end, only if persons holding top managerial positions recognized and appreciation. This is through increased allowances and other incentives other than their basic pay. This culture is a good one, but could be a hindrance to the company if not handled with care. Lowe level employees could end up disrespecting the top management as they just “view” them in accordance to the salary they earn regardless of their skills and professionalism. They will feel equal. In fact, for employees to be happy, they should:

1) Be treated with right and with respect

2) Receive timely and handsome pay

3) Pay differences apply to professionalism, skills, and role-played.

4) Be recognized for inventing or doing some outstanding thing

5) Everyone’s pay kept a secret but at a scale.

In summary, Ben and Jerry’s corporate doing it best, which is celebrated. However, if the 5-1 salary scale culture not reviewed, the corporate may end up with no one willing to work at the top managerial positions.
