The Shino religion refers to a religious system of beliefs that originates in Japan. This religion is very unique because it puts a significant emphasis on actions and diligence. These actions are primarily meant to serve as the connection between both ancient Japan and modern day Japan. The writings of the Shinto religion and teachings were originated in the historical books of Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, which date as far back as the 8^th century. The earlier writings of Shinto however, do not refer to Shinto as a religion but rather as a mythology and series of native beliefs. (BBC, 2015)

In modern day Japanese culture, the Shinto religion is heavily associated with religious shrines that are dedicated to the worshiping of a wide array of Gods, which in Japan are referred to as Kami. The Kami are often referred to as a spiritual power that can act as an inspiration among believers. These different Kami each serve their own purposes of worship such as memorials for historical wars as well as harvesting festivals. This concept of the Shinto religion serves as the primary practice in the religion itself. It is simply known as Shrine Shinto and has been a significant part of Japanese culture and history from the beginning. The most popular shrine in Japan that is attributed to the Shinto religion is the temple of the Great Buddha. This Shrine which represents the Great Buddha still stands in Japan today and is often visited for the purposes of worship and prayer. (Patheo, 2015)

The Shinto religion or belief system teaches specific deeds that are meant to generate purity through rituals. This practice in the Shinto religion can act as a religious cleansing on the human soul. This religious practice of human purification is an important part of the Shinto religion and is still practiced in modern day Japanese culture. (BBC, 2015)

Another important part of the Shinto religion is the belief of an afterlife. The Shinto belief in the idea of an afterlife carries obscure and negative views on death. The Shinto lore says that the souls of the dead live in a dark underground where they are separated from the living. (Patheo, 2015)

The Shinto religion maybe different from other common western religions, but it is still an important part of Japanese history and culture, especially for educational and research purposes.
