Shrouded in Contradiction, Essay Example

My response to this article is that it was a very compelling piece in which the author illustrates her feelings about what people in her old country thought of her new garb, I was under the impression that she was back in the old country to go to a funeral to say goodbye to someone important to her. Another thing that I thought was compelling was the hardship she faced in trying to keep up with America’s new rules so as to not invoke anyone’s ire or give people the wrong impression of her. The author’s feelings about her transition from Islamic descendant to uptown girl in Florida working a 9-5 is absolute especially when she makes it known about the different types of dress. Overall, the story was very compelling and interesting in the aspect that the author told her story as she wanted people who come to the U.S. from other countries to be able to relate to her story.
