Pages: 1

Words: 293

Essay

Death and the Kings Horseman by Wole Soyinka illustrates the manner in which women have a big amount of influence over men. This is done through the portrayal of Soyinka showing that despite the fact that a man may be acknowledged and recognized for the kind of honor and prestige he has, the women have enough influence over the men as to deviate from the primary goals and ambitions. Here, Soyinka is shownig that women can truly be evil if they intend to. What is meant by this is that a women has the authority to make a man do whatever she pleases. Overall, Death and the Kings Horseman also focuses on the idea that women are that which men invariably crave. Because of this craving, if women wanted to wreck a man, they could do so by making him lose his hope and ambitions.

In addition to that, Olas Rotimis  The Gods Are Not To Blame also exemplifies the kind of influence that women can have over men at any point in time. This is portrayed through the manner in which Kutuje performs as Odewales conscience. She is seen giving him advice and relaxing him when he starts to think in a way that he should not be thinking. This play just proves the fact that women truly believe that they have more influence over men than they are accredited with. On that note, the influence that talked about is shown in the play by the manner in which the women guide the men through difficult times. Overall, the role of women is a vital one in that men would be lost without their significant other.
