Sita is one of the main characters and the beloved wife of Rama in the Ramayana. Sita is also the daughter of king Janaka. Sita’s friends include Rama who is her husband, Lakshama, Hanuman and Jitayu. Her foes are Havana who abducted her and kept her hostage and his allies. Sita is among the main characters in the Ramayana, and her role is particularly critical in the development of the epic. Being the wife of the main character the story mainly revolves around her. Sita is crucial to the epic as she influences most of the decisions made by Rama. Sita is also associated with the Swayamvara, which is a ceremony where a bride is allowed to choose her groom.

Sita is also instrumental in the epic as she develops the epics climax. When Sita is abducted by Ravana, Rama makes a quest to find her and try to rescue her. This event results in the battle between Rama and Ravana. Without her, the plot of the epic would have been totally different as it is her activities that develop the epic. Sita helped the main character in the epic as she was a motivation to him. Sita being Rama’s wife received a lot of attention from him, and it is this relationship with her that made him fight against Ravana. Sita is portrayed as the avatar of Goddess Lakshmi, the companion of Vishnu. Sita is depicted in the epic as the epitome of female virtue and purity. Sita also bears two sons who are heirs of Rama. Sita is motivated by her love for her husband, and this is evident when she renounces the comfort of the palace to join her husband in exile.

Hanuman, on the other hand, is a deity who is a passionate devotee of Rama. He is also a central character in the Ramayana. Hanuman is depicted as a lesser god in the epic. Hanuman was born to the humanoid referred to as vanaras. Hanuman is not introduced into epic in its early stages, and Rama meets Hanuman while he is searching for Sita who had been abducted by Ravana. Hanuman’s life then becomes interwoven with that of Rama making him instrumental in the development of the epic. Hanuman and a group of vanaras assist Rama to search for Sita. It is, in fact, hanuman who finds Sita and also plays a notable role in the defeat of Ravana and the reunion of Sita with Rama.

Hanuman’s ability to shape shift was also helpful in finding Sita. Another significant role played by Hanuman in the epic is his assistance in finding a cure for the injured Lakshamana. When Lakshamana was injured during the battle against Ravana, it is Hanuman who brought the herb that restored Lakshamana’s life. Hanuman was a passionate devotee of Rama, and as such Rama’s enemies were his enemies and Rama’s friends were also his friends. Hanuman tremendously assisted both Rama andSiri in the epic. Hanuman was intensely passionate about Rama and Sita, infact, his love for the two was so deep that, at one time, Hanuman tore open his chest to show Rama and Sita in his chest. Hanuman was motivated by this deep love for the two which explains his devotion to the two main characters in the Ramayana.
