The most important types of the staffing skills required for successful IT project managers are personal effectiveness skills, technical skills, management skills; impact analysis skills: the ability to analyze the effect of the changes made to the project; communication skills, intelligence skills: knowing all the aspects of the project; calmness skills: if something goes wrong and away from the plan then try to redevelop; teamwork skills, budgeting skills and time management skills (Enterprise PM, 2003).
The Work Breakdown Analysis is analyzing the work by decomposing the scope of the project into smaller parts creating the work hierarchy. In this process the project is broke down into phases, iterations; deliverables into packages and other activities into some smaller tasks. It is the most important tool for knowing the scope of the work and for the estimation development (IIBA, 2009). This work breakdown analysis is mostly used for identification of the risks that may cause impact on the business.
Customers place many number of attributes according to their choice and the relevance. Among the attributes consumers mostly concentrate on the quality and the price. There are many other attributes that need to be assessed to showcase the worth of the product. They are the past experiences, name of the brand, name of the store and the product information (Akir & Othman, 2010). So in order to bring up the business in accordance to the users requirements, demands and attributes, their assessment is much more important.
The IS Operational Plan outlines the processes and procedures required to implement the strategic plan. This plan identifies the weaknesses and strengths in the organization. Usually an IS Operational Plan covers a time frame of about one year so as to update the processes according to the environmental impacts and the day to day challenges (Warwick, 2013). So accordingly the strategic plans can be changed and put into operation. If the time frame is more than a year then time to time analysis may not be done and the business may be lost.
Employee motivation can be increased by the bottom-up budgeting approach as it is decentralized and it has a participative nature. This type of budgeting is useful for the complex and large organizations (Florin, 2011). Bottom-up budgeting is more accurate as it is directly prepared by the employees. But on the other hand allocating the resources and the budget from the beginning using top-down budgeting will lead to effective use of resources. The costs can be controlled in an effective way using top-down budgeting approach.
To achieve high degree of the success, the Critical Success Factor (CSF) is needed for an organization. SWOT analysis is used to assess the outcomes of the external and the internal analyses. Current position of an organization can be assessed using SWOT technique with respect to the competitive market. SWOT itself is assessed by each CSF’s. So for better IS strategic process SWOT analysis is useful as it itself first assesses the critical success factors (SKL, 2001). Thus for the circumstances where proper analysis cannot be achieved just by SWOT, then consider more of the CSF’s and then relate each of them with the SWOT for better analysis. In brief, SWOT can only analyze the factors of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats, where as the CSF’s include the factors of SWOT and also economical, political, social and technical factors.
