Introduction

This paper is based on the strategic systems analysis of the company ‘MDT innovations Company’ which is listed in the stock exchange of Malaysia. The paper will first give the background of the company and after that the strategic system of the company will be analyzed. The Strategic system analysis will address the alignment of the IT systems with that of the business systems effectively. Once the strategic systems are aligned with that of the business, then these systems will provide an advantage strategically to help the firm performance and enhance its operations. Section 2 of the Strategic systems analysis will describe Mdt innovation’s structure, business and competition in this industry, determine the competition basis, nature and direction of change of the industry and it will also analyze how Information Technology (IT) is used in the industry. Once the forces of competition are addressed, the firm and industry’s value chain will be discussed. This will tell how the company creates customer’s value and what best practices it uses to manage it processes of business. The advantages of the strategic partnerships and how the information systems enhance the value chain of the company will also be discussed. In the end, this section will give suggestions as to how the company can improve and align IT properly to reap the benefits of this system and achieve its corporate objectives.

Description of the Firm’s Business and Value chain of Industry

The Mdt innovation is the pioneer in the IoT enabling which stands for (Internet of Things). They have done this with the help of their expertise in consulting services, component engineering, turnkey integrated WSN and RFID solutions, software development and design and the information mobile technologies. The company specializes in the smart devices design, IoT, gateway wireless sensor, RFID active tag, NFC in sim solutions and cards. The company is the leader in the enabling of IoT and have different types of connected smart devices

Determination of Competition basis

In every industry, the main factor that plays a significant role to encourage the mechanism to enhance the customer’s value is competition (Helo & Szekley, 2005). The determination of the competition helps the company to ensure better products provision and services which helps to meet the needs of the customers in best possible way than the other company. Mdt innovations Company does this with the help of their technology enhancement and the use of their state of the art IT systems.

Creating Customer’s value through value chain

The structure of the industry is Software and the company is involved in the competition with IT. The threat of new companies to start this business is low because there is a lot of investment required. In short, the entry and exit barriers are high. So, it is very hard for new firms to come and compete with the big giants in the sofwatre and IT sector (Galliers & Leidner, 2014).

Application of best practice to manage business

The company is involved in the use of IT systems and this helps them to manage their customers online. There processes have become efficient because of the state of the art IT systems. The company uses the call centers, mobile phone system and the technologies that are existing to allow innovation for an extended software accessibility (Galliers & Leidner, 2014). This involves the enhancement in the labor productivity and the standards in software applications. The application of the existing infrastructure of technology will be quite useful for MDT Company to give software and IT applications across the globe (Galliers & Leidner, 2014).  This way the IT systems best practice will help MDT Company manage its business effectively.

Leveraging Core Competencies

The main driver and core competency for this industry is the emergence of technology and advancement. As the world is progressing and there are new IT systems beings introduced, various forms of software are available which give the business solutions to companies. This is possible because of advanced technologies equipment (Therivel & Paridario, 2013). So, the main driver for change in this industry is the technology and the introduction of innovative and efficient Information systems.

Customer Base and Industry Supply chain

The customers of this industry comprises of insurance companies and working people. The industry is unaffected by the power of buyer relatively because the software industry comprise of companies that are in the provision of software services to the companies. Whatever the condition of the economy, either bad or good, it doesn’t impact on the buyers to consumer the product (Helo & Szekley, 2005). The supplies of the software industry comprises of software companies, IT vendors and office suppliers. In such kind of suppliers in the industry, suppliers are in link with the industry itself. The competition level in the software industry is less intense because of the discovery of various software and IT services. Customers prefer to go to a software company which gives the best price and also solve their business problems (Galliers & Leidner, 2014).

Advantage of Strategic Partnerships

The company has strategic partnerships with Taiwan, Indonesia, China and Japan. The Products of RFID help to develop the market which involves turnkey NFC sim embedded with and IoT solutions which are on a frequency that is low. They also have ultra-high frequency, high frequency and microwave. This involves tag design, inlay and integration.

Information Systems impacting the Mdt Innovation’s Value Chain

The competition in this industry is less because of the fact that there are companies who would prefer software which is at less cost. There is a high price competition in this industry hence there is an increased rivalry (Helo & Szekley, 2005).  The threat of product alternative and substitute is high in this industry as there are a lot of companies providing different and innovative IT services and software programs.
