Research Paper

Current Symptoms (stomach, heart, lungs): The client is a 35 year old Caucasian male. The client complains of dry eyes.  Finally, patient complains of having various infections on his foot.

COLDSPA for Foot Infection

C- infection on foot is red with noticeable puss

O- roughly 2 months

L- over the last two toes on the right foot

D- comes and goes after treatment

S- goes through a cycle of roughly 3 months

P- physician prescribes antibiotic to get rid of infection

A-No other symptoms for the infection

COLDSPA for “itchy” eyes

C- eyes are moderately red around the retina

O- roughly one month

L- most prominent on the right retina; also visible on the left retina

D- exacerbated when weather is hot

S- not a chronic condition- only has happened one time

P- physician has proscribed eye drops

A-No other symptoms for the infection

Client says that infection reoccurs every three months, and is sensitive to the touch.  The consistency of the infection maintains a similarity over that time period.

Family HX- The patient has a history of prostate cancer and high blood pressure.  Both of the patient’s parents had a history of high blood pressure that led to a heart attack in the father.  The father also was diagnosed with prostate cancer relatively early at the age of 55.  The patient’s mother also had lupus.

Objective Symptoms:

Vital Signs

Height- 6 feet 1 inch
Weight- 225 pounds
BMI- 24.4
Blood Pressure- 120/60
Temperature- 98.4 Celsius
Pulse Rate- 85 per minute
Respiration Rate – 12 breaths per minute

 IAPP for Foot Infection (Skin)

Inspection– there is exaggerated swollenness around the foot where the infection occurred.

Palpation– upon touching the infection, there is pain to the touch all the way around the right toe.

IAPP for Potential Eye Infection

Inspection- there is pronounced redness around the retina- upon opening the eye there is excess watering.

Palpation- symmetry of eyes is normal- eyelids can close completely- although the infection does seem to protrude out after eyes are shut.

Percussion- lower lid is moderately turned away from eye leading to excess tearing

Visual acuity- the client’s normal sight is 20/100; a test taken after examination shows that eyesight has not deteriorated

After quantitative and qualitative tests, antibiotics will be prescribed for the two concurrent infections.
