How the Ban on the Veil Should be Revised, Article Writing Example

Article Writing

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about new regulations that changed the norms of the society. European countries such as France passed laws that prohibited students from using religious symbols. Another law that was passed also preluded women from covering their faces in public (Rokhaya, 2020, np.). However, the integration of COVID-19 measures has changed these dynamics. The current essay highlights how this law has been altered and how the situation has been a boost in helping women avoids public discrimination.

The ban on the veil has to be revised in order to help protect the right of the woman. In the bans that were imposed to women in France and Belgium, it was illegal to be seen in public while covering faces. However, the regulations and safety measures provided by the World health organization in regards to the pandemic require that all individuals in public have to wear face mask (Ricca, 2020, pg. 12). The governments should now come up with a policy that would effectively allow women to freely walk in public places while covering their faces as an induction of religion as well as the target for reducing corona virus spread.

Another reason that contributed to the ban of women using religious attire in public is secularism that is being promoted in various countries. Through this, it is evident that women will rarely have their privacy in public. Therefore, the arrival of the pandemic will not only ensure that all individuals are masked while in public but will also enhance the chances of women maintaining their religious affiliations (Eli, np.). Thus, governments should consider the choice of making women wear face veils in public due to their religious affiliations.

Germany is one of the European countries that have been vocal in banning use of face veils in public by women. However, the adverse effects of the pandemic should act as a symbol that the government uses to ensure healthy measures for its citizens. Hence, women who use face veils that cover a larger portion of the face should not be banned from using the public places. Due to this fact, this culture should be maintained.

According to Lyu and Wehby (2020, pg. 1420), evidences sparked from the spread of the infection in a grocery store in New York revealed that wearing masks or face veils reduced the chances of getting infected with the virus. Therefore, if the governments follow suit, facial veils should be legalized in order to reduce cases of the virus as well as limiting the asymptomatic patients from further spreading the virus. Moreover, according to Lou (2020, np) burqa bans should be lifted due to the effects of the global pandemic. The laws banned facial veils due to the aspects of living together in a secular community. However, it is now reasonable to allow the use of veils in order to reduce and minimize the spread of the virus in public. The regulations being championed are key factors to be used to enable the governments to champion the use of burqa by women in public. In conclusion, the new regulations of the pandemic have come at an ideal time that would lead to the legalization of facial veils and masks worn by women.
