Suffering and the Divine Mind, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 454

Essay

Experience The ability to feel as well as be conscious of everything from a prick of a needle to getting into an accident.
Agency Doing routine things or following a belief
Dyadic Nature Small group of people
Anthropomorphize Making something that seems human but it’s not.
Moral Typecasting Theory Analyzes moral agents and patients such as those who believe in God and the Devil that guide their social life activities.
Existential Theory of Mind Gives people the gift of concept of the things that are going on in their lives.
Animism Someone who believes that a supernatural force is governing the universe.

My understanding of the suffering and belief is that they can’t exist if they don’t serve a purpose such as making a person rely on their belief in higher powers in order to do right or to feel accomplished about surviving their hardship, suffering is meant to show people that hardship is a necessary part of life for life cannot exist without suffering and it is their belief in their God or ‘superpower’ that keeps them from doing something stupid or irrational.

People need something to believe in, they believe in God and their moral typecasting is the key to believing in God, my opinion is that people count on their moral typecasting in order to feel valued like someone is watching out for them. People’s belief in God gives them the strength to withstand everything from home invasions to hurricane attacks, it can be argued that people are less likely to worry about ‘cosmic storms’ as long as God is the one reassuring them that they’re going to be okay no matter what the outcome is.

Part IV

A person’s belief in God affects a person’s suffering in the aspect that they believe that their suffering is a part of God’s great plan for them with the reward being the light at the end of the tunnel. Ultimately, believing that God is at the heart of their prayers and everything that is heavenly provides them with the protection that they need to get through the day. Ritualistically, I feel that people who place their faith in God is gambling on what can and can’t happen, an example of this is when people get into an accident that causes them great harm. They pray to God that everything is going to work out for the best then in some cosmic convergent way, it does give people that peace of mind that only praying to God can give.

It can be argued that people also use prayer as a bit of a last resort in order to get out of trouble of every kind, it’s not ideal but it is what gives them faith in their religion.
