Teacher Resource Websites, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 309

Essay

There are many teacher resource websites available on the internet that are meant to help teachers develop lesson plans and enhance student learning. Many of these websites are geared towards local and state standards in addition to including information that will help education professionals adopt the Common Core standards into their lessons. These sites help teachers find their content and grade level specialties by sorting lessons according to what would be appropriate for different students. Furthermore, they provide ways to help teachers differentiate learning material.

One of my favorite sites is the teacher resource section of Scholastic.com. This website is unique because it provides teachers with readymade PowerPoint slides on pertinent topics, such as how to read medicine bottles. While this information does not necessarily align with state standards, it does provide students with the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, which is a necessary foundation for the understanding of a variety of academic topics.

My second favorite website is SMART Exchange because it provides teachers with a variety of resources and tools that can be utilized to enhance the use of technology in the classroom. Like many other teacher resource websites, this application has many premade lesson plans and templates that allow teachers to create lessons that are more interactive. Furthermore, it provides teachers with the opportunity to share lessons and hold discussions that are relevant to specific subject content in order to improve lessons.

In conclusion, while most teacher resource websites have many similarities, some have features that are more readily applicable than others. SMART Exchange is a valuable tool for teachers who wish to integrate more technology into their lessons, while Scholastic is helpful because it provides teachers with many premade lessons in a PowerPoint format.
