Technology Driven and People Driven, Assessment Example

Today it has been ten years, when I joined this office as a simple Data Entry Clerk. The environment of the office has been transformed so quickly that I just can’t imagine. The time when I joined the office my only work was to enter the file names in the computer and also to keep the files arranged well in hand. The job was not that much easy as, arranging the files usually took my whole day and even then by the end of the day I was blamed of being lazy and irresponsible. The drawback of my duty was that nobody could understand the nature and need of my duty. As the time passed our organization also established two more regional offices and now there was a need to gather all the data at one place in hand so that any of the people from any office can easily access the database at any time provided with a secured permission. With this need it was thought to transfer all the necessary record from files to the computers and make separate folders for each section for an easy access (Automation, June 2006). As I was a manual person but the record responsibility was with me, so I was also pushed to do computer courses so that I can manage the data easily and effectively. The use of computers for office work like word processing, accounting and emails was getting common day by day  (Elfriede Dustin, 1999) Later on after two years some software were introduced in the office by the management committee that they want an up gradation and fully automated system for invoices, salaries and all sorts of billings and transactions records. The handling of the software made the work easier for the working team. At the same time the email system made it easy to keep in touch all the offices working together. In my point of view these changes which have occurred in the past decade are technology driven and people are also equally responsible for these changes as they accepted this revolution making their work easier and comfortable.
