Apparently, the intended purpose of the article is to capture the attention of America’s federal and state authorities concerning the state of affairs affecting children in American societies. In the article, the author reacts about statistics aired by America’s weekly CBS television. The author’s message is that there is an imminent predicament looming within the population of America schoolchildren (Seider, 2011, p. 342). He backs up his ideas with statistics postulated by the US Census Bureau reports, which estimates that in the near future, 25% of American children will be faced with poverty and homelessness.

The authors write for Buzzle, a US social website involved in highlighting economic and social issues at federal levels. The information contained in the report indicates that there was minimal poverty reduction in the US over the last two decades. The article says that 1 out of every 5 children in the cities lives in poverty, compared to 1 out of every 7 adults in the same settings. In this regard, the nation’s economic structure predisposes children and teenagers to poverty and homelessness.
