The Aspects of Team Management, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 372

Essay

The aspects of team management in a group will be reviewed from the perspective of   Crandall (2010) and MacDonald (2013). The primary characteristic of team management which will be reviewed is the team manager’s blending with the members of the team while performing the effective management functions.

Team managers must be able to perform a juggling act of six primary skills in a high functioning group.  These primary skills are administrating the performance of the team as a functional group, creating a setting of collaborative endeavors, establishing priorities, manifesting the required technical knowledge which is essential to the group’s success, encouraging confidence in the individual members and the team while focusing on the objective of the group. Effective team management requires the capacity of identifying problems and motivating excellence in the team. This aspect is an active management process.[1],[2]

The successful team manager is able to coordinate the contributions of each of the individual team members and energies in order to direct the team toward a mutual objective.  In essence, the function of the team leader is to aggregate significance to the endeavors of the group. This function must be conducted by the team leader while engaging the members of the team. It is commonplace for the team manager not to have awareness with regards to the daily operations of the team and the team member’s activities.  This characteristic is an outcome of the separation of the leadership function.[3],[4]

This essay has been an exercise of the team management function. The effective team manager should be a component of the team while encouraging the members of the team toward the completion of the objective. The team leader can stimulate success or failure. Consequently, it is of great significance for the team manager to demonstrate the capacities of being a powerful and effective leader.
