The Circumstances That Led to the Breakup of a Friendship, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 585

Essay

Friendship is considered a unique kind of love that is not meant to fade easily. Since, if it fades or break it might create a sense of loneliness and emptiness. I remember one of my best friends called Gwen whom I met back at my sixth grade. I used to see that girl at school and the neighborhood often. At that time, I was a low toned person that socialized with fewer people. Nonetheless, we had a lot in common that we could share although our personalities seemed contrasting since she was outspoken while I was low-toned. Best of all, she was a little bossy, funny and willing to trail any crazy adventurous idea that we came up with together. At one instance, during the summer break, we toured island Nantucket together with Gwen on a family vacation. However, after some time, certain circumstances led to the breakup of our friendship.

Firstly, after a while into our friendship, Gwen started being an avid gossiper. She used to tell some of her other friends about our family issues that were mostly exaggerated. Specifically, I remember one instance where she told one of my colleague that my room was tidy and invaded with rats, cockroaches and spiders. Moreover, she even said that our house was old with some things falling off the house ceiling that made some students at school laugh off whenever I passed by. Shockingly, such kind of behavior coming from a friend, who is supposed to be reliable, is regrettable.

Secondly, Gwen had also grown to be arrogant towards her colleagues and even to some extent rude to teachers. Particularly, there was a time I saw her engaging in a fight during the lunch time session. She was also involved, together with her other friends, in bullying other students together. As a result, it even earned her a suspension after she bullied an influential businessman’s child who later reported her to the school administration. Also, she would invade other people lockers to plant some nasty things so as to anger them. Such a character of rudeness and arrogance made her unattractive, thus, repelling her from me.

Thirdly, even worse was when Gwen started involving herself with the bad company that was participating in bad behavior. Together with her bad company, she engaged herself in immorality and drugs. For instance, on one afternoon after the Friday class they would run and hide near the swimming pool wall and smoke together with her company. During the weekends, she and her group would visit clubs were they smoked, drank alcohol and engage in endless immorality. Due to the bad company that she kept, such a friend would compromise my morals and; therefore, her friendship was not worth sustaining.

In conclusion, although Gwen was a longtime friend that we shared together happy moments, certain circumstances led to the breakup of our friendship. Initially, she started off gossiping about my life and the home I stayed in. Then, she became arrogant and rude to both her colleges and teachers. Even worse, she involved herself in the bad company who engaged in drug addiction and immoral behavior. Such awkward characters that Gwen displayed, kept me at bay from her since I saw it as unfit to sustain our friendship even though we stayed in the same residential area.
