The Connection of Aggression in the Rise of Crime and Violence Rate, Assessment Example

Assessment

The reality behind anger being the core motivation of developing crimes has been proven through time, experience and research of several psychologists and sociologists. Nevertheless, it is not anger alone that pushes one to act out on what he feels. Instead, it is the aggression that one possesses that makes anger affecting enough on the person’s thinking and decision. In relation to crime rates, the capacity of one to do something about what he feels is what determines the reaction of a person especially when he or she is challenged with a particular stressor that makes that person lose his temper and make poor decisions.

Aggression is often defined as the abrupt surge of desire for one to release tension out of his own system and pass it along towards another through verbal or physical assault. In instances when cases of domestic abuse, child and/or elder abuse becomes the main concern, it is most often than not that the perpetrators see themselves more powerful or superior than that of their victims. Understandably, these individuals [the perpetrators] see themselves more powerful than their victims and their victims are seen by these individuals as mere objects to whom they could release their stresses to.

Disappointments and frustrations often become the basis of stressful states of living. This is the reason why people belonging to stressful living conditions [possibly financially related] often become involved in issues of domestic violence and child and/or elder abuse. Most of the time, not being able to respond to their frustrations and disappointments pushes them to decide abruptly on matters especially when they begin to feel the pressure of the situation. Unprecedented reactions of aggression often become the result of such situations often leading to the oppression of the ‘less powerful’. Being able to release such stress on their victims often given these individuals a sense of satisfaction based on achieving authority over the people they oppressed.

There are however several matters that fuel the existence of aggressive behavior in several individuals. Sociologists and psychiatrists alike come to a notion that being able to balance and control these other elements of aggression could better lessen the chances of anger-driven individuals to commit crimes due to poor judgment and decision making. For instance, a study on the comparison of behavior and environment has been undergone and it has provided a relatively reliable source of information that could help in lessening crimes based on aggression and anger. Improving the environment by adding in the ‘green element’ in the surroundings have been found out to impact human attitude positively. This is better shown through the reported date below:

As considered from this example, resolving issues of human aggression and anger could be lessened through improving the surroundings and adding in more vegetation. Apparently, the more relaxed one’s senses is, the lesser is the possibility for him or her to resort to aggression as a response to the anger that he or she may be feeling. According to the observation conducted, it is the calming essence of nature that calms down the senses of a person, allowing him to become more reasonable especially in making decisions and reacting to certain situations.
