The Diagnostic Versus the Therapeutic in Resource-Limited Setting, Book Review Example

Management of HIV/AIDS has become an issue of interest in the field of medicine. Of particular interest is the application of diagnostic versus therapeutic techniques in resource limited settings. Resource limited settings pose the greatest challenge to effective management of most diseases, especially HIV/AIDS. As such, there is great need for the application of effective techniques to realize ideal results.

Diagnostic procedures have been found to be a crucial element for an effective disease management and prevention program. One of the biggest challenges of disease management and prevention in resource limited areas is the application of cheap, quick and accurate diagnostic procedures and techniques. This makes centrifugal microfluids particularly effective in resource limited settings. Scaling up diagnostic procedures is effective in raising awareness and collecting considerable information on a particular condition such as HIV/AIDS. Centrifugal microfluids offer new and essential platform for point-of-care diagnostics. This platform offers a much cheaper and faster solution to HIV/AIDS diagnostics in resource-limited settings.

Therapeutic techniques are almost always considered the most effective in the management of diseases. However, these techniques are usually both costly and long-term. As such, therapeutic applications of centrifugal microfluids can be considerably difficult to implement in resource-limited settings. Furthermore, effective application of therapeutic aspects of centrifugal fluids is highly dependent on the success of the diagnostic applications.

In conclusion, diagnostic application of centrifugal fluids is highly efficient and applicable in resource-limited settings. The feasibility and productivity of centrifugal microfluidic cartridges has been depicted through the technique’s successful application in antibody-based cancer therapy. Centrifugal microfluidic based techniques are fully integrated, simple in their operation and considerably inexpensive. This makes centrifugal microfluidic techniques particularly suited for resource-limited settings. As such, priority should be given to the diagnostics in a resource-limited setting.
