Introduction

This paper main aim is specifically to provide various perspectives reflected in the ideas and theories described in Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner book entitled, “Riding the waves of culture”, and Garry Ferraro idea and theories in his book entitled, “The Cultural Dimension of International Business.

Riding the Waves of Culture: Understanding Diversity in the Global Business by Fons Trompenaars and Charles Hampden-Turner

This book mainly outlines various cultural differences as well as how they influence various business and management processes (Trompenaars 92). The authors of the book describe some of the ideas that influence global cultures of management. The book also describes various corporate cultures, national cultural conflicts and mistrusts that mostly shaped corporate and business globally. In the book, the authors provide various theories and illustrations that demonstrate various management approaches that can be employed by business operators in various cultural settings globally. The book considers the impact of various cultures and leadership systems and how they influence global business operations. The authors of the book also provide various leadership and cultural values that global business managers must understand in order to promote the success of their business operations and activities in various overseas countries. The book also contains a number of cultural leadership skills that are important in global business operations (Trompenaars 93). Furthermore, the authors of the book argue that in international business context awareness of cross-cultural practices is very imperative. Global business managers should also recognize cultural differences in the business environment. This is because according to the authors of the book, understanding differences cross-cultural behaviors and values provide the manager with cultural awareness and sensitivity towards increasing diversity in their firms (Trompenaars 97).

The Cultural Dimension of International Business by Gary Ferraro

This book mainly outlines various theories and ideas that deal with international global strategies including international business marketing and other anthropology policies of business (Ferraro 6). The book also recognizes various ways through which cultural anthropology can positive influence global business operations and activities. According to the author of the book, cultural concepts, ethnocentrism, proper communication process as well as effective market research are some of factors that should be considered in order to achieve success in global business environments (Ferraro 8).    The author of the book also argues that the provision of various forms of communication strategies including nonverbal communication and linguistic systems can help promote positive operations in international business (Ferraro 10).

The author also recognizes various ideas and cultural methods of improving international business operations such as providing proper marketing strategies, proper managing procedures and other negotiation practices (Ferraro 7).

There are various different authors’ perspectives in the books. For example, according to Garry Ferraro perspective the major and critical procedures in global business operations include conducting effective marketing, increasing managing skills as well as negotiating abilities. According to Ferraro, the use of effective communication policies and strategies including nonverbal communication skills are important in global business operations (Ferraro 3).  On the other hand, according Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner the major business skills that are necessary for the global business environment include the provision of diversity and proper cross-cultural awareness skills. Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner also recognize ideas and theories dealing with cultural values and global leadership skills in international business activities.

In my opinion and viewpoint, I believe that the books provide good grounds for the understanding of cultural values and differences in global business operations. The authors of the books also identify major strategies for improving success in global business settings including the application of effective communication procedures and cultural differences awareness skills.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is clear from this paper that the major ideas, theories and perspectives provided by Garry Ferraro book and Trompenaars and Hampden-Turner books include the consideration of cross-cultural behaviors, diversity and cultural anthropology and how this influence global business operations and activities. The authors also recognize the importance of global marketing procedures, provision of global leadership systems as well as the use of effective communication strategies in international business.  Important business management policies and strategies are also provided in these authors perspectives of global business operations.
