Research Paper

Research questions, objectives and hypotheses are important elements of a research project. They determine parameters of the study and influence the design too. Objectives, however, distinctly are derived from empirical studies of real projects. Precisely, they are formulated by making a series of assertions relatedto a specific practice. Often the purpose for attempting research project is making some relevance of human communication and actions. Consequently, research objectives create a methodological framework, which the researchercan use when selecting a theoretical premise, population, sample, data collection techniques (Freshwater, Sherwood, & Drury, 2006).

The topic for this proposal/ research project is ‘effects of hand washing with water or soap on bacterial contamination of hands.’ This topic was selected because hospital infections are increasing and the main objective is to explore whether hand washing or the techniques employed in executing this task affect bacterial contamination of hands. Also, the influence of soap and water on bacterial hand contamination will be investigated (Burton, Cobb, & Donachie, 2011).

Specific objectives are as follows:

  • To explore the influence of handwashing with water or soap on bacterial contamination
  • To determine the extent of bacterial contamination of hands when hand washing is done with soap and water only
  • To understand the impact of soap and water hand on bacterial contamination of hands
  • To differentiate between the effects of hand washing with soap or water,
