Essay

Life has always been a mystery that God grants human beings. Within the context of one’s life, one meets many challenges that might hold him or her back from becoming the dream that God had for him. One of the most important facts to consider about life is the fact that human dreams are prone to error. Our walk to faith makes it possible for us as human beings to strive to want to be like God. The Bible acknowledges the fact that human beings will always make mistakes. However, it stipulates that it God will forgive anyone no matter the mistakes they have made. The only thing that human beings are asked to do is ask for forgiveness (Matthew 4:17). However, some mistakes cut deep into once faith for forgiveness. I once knew a man who let his past hold him down on the walk towards becoming more like God.

One day James was out with his friends and had more drinks than he was supposed to have. He then decided to drive home even though his friends asked him not to. On his way home, he hit and injured a young woman to the point where she almost lost her life. Although he paid for what he did, he becomes a different man. Before the incident, James was a prominent member of the church and was respected in his community. However, after the incident he stopped attending church and engaging in the community affairs. He became reserved to himself and wanted nothing to do with God or people. The incident held him back from perusing the goodness in people. The outcome of the whole scenario led to a change in perspective. He divorced his wife and abandoned his family.

The goodness that once resonated with him disappeared completely. He shunned away everything that was positive. Eventually, due to the depression he was going through he committed suicide. All this would have been avoided if James only understood his actions and asked for forgiveness from both the victim and God.
