Spiritual Care: Nursing Theory, Research, and Practice, Essay Example

From a Christian understanding, caring can be viewed as being a human responsibility. Every human being has a responsibility to take care of the other. The Bible states that one must love his neighbor as he loves himself, loosely translated from a nursing point of view human beings are subjected to love others people. In this case, love brings about caring human beings. The concept of caring is thus subject to the notion of love. Without love, nurses cannot be able to form bonds with patients that bring about caring. Hence, it is imperative for all nurses to develop the love of their job and love towards the patient to develop care for their patients (Duffy, 2009).

The interpersonal theory, which is related to caring is one of the most potent theories of caring. The theory is divided into four different concepts, which include orientation, exploitation identification, and resolution. These four concepts play an integral part in identifying what caring is all about. In accordance with the concept, the first step to caring is orientation, which brings together the patient and the patient. Orientation is then followed by identification, where a nurse identifies what a patient is suffering from. The process of identification helps in developing further interest and care in a patient (Taylor, 2002). Exploration of the problem leads to resolution, which is brought about due to the care a nurse has on a patient.

Nurses can influence the progress of theory through their daily learning and activities. Theories can be impacted by the discoveries and changes that happen on a daily basis and through how they approach each patient. However, this does not necessarily affect what a nurse believes in. Though learning to be open minded, nurses can preserve their personal attributes towards their job.
