Executive Summary
As a librarian, the main initiative of our jobs are to help enrich the lives of students by creating avenues that help support their educational needs. The importance of the school library is important part in the future of school children. In order to students and staff to continue to have access the library facilities, we have created a social media marketing strategy in which targets students and teachers on the importance of supporting the library program. The library aids in student achievement presently, and the in future generations success.“Don’t Let the Door To Your Future Close, Open Up A Book” is our library’s slogan, and is the entire concept of our library program in which focuses on helping students realize that books are a gateway to a better future. Far too often student and teachers rely on Google Search, instead of expanding their minds through other means.
Participating in School Curriculum Development
Our library programs offers a plethora of resources that are available to all, especially Teacher/Librarian collaboration in helping with research; career building; creating lesson plans; expanding your knowledge; fostering creativity; and helping you relax with a good book. Staff and Librarian collaboration is essential in supporting the success of students. For this we offer literacy skills such as, shared creation of integrated instructions, in which creates a new learning experience. As the teachers and librarians work in the classroom and the library to offer students a better understanding. We work together on problem solving, critical thinking, developing lesson plans, introducing databases, bibliographic references, and books that support the curriculum. Teachers and librarians will work together to establish literacy standards, as well as service as a valuable resource to; technology, media, research, books, and several more elements.
The primary objective is to create a strategy that not only targets students and staff, but also the community at large, and launch our library program: Discover. Download. Dream For the Future. Our revamped library program and new services that will help to generate buzz and exciting that will attract students and staff to our launch. By developing a newly designed website, and focus our presence on the major social platforms, we will build an established community from the target market that supports education, and the importance of coming to the library to achieve success.
Re-Vamp Learning Commons
Libraries are no strangers to change, we have adapted for centuries with the changing trends and have a handle on knowing how the past can impact the future. In order to accommodate students in the highly tech-savvy generation we have revamped the library commons in order to help make students more comfortable as well as inviting in wanting to spend time with us!
- Part computer lab/library
- Rearrangeable furniture to accommodate meetings or study sessions
- Tools for collaboration, as well a place for staffs to provide help as needed.
- Quiet area for students and staff
- Tutoring section
- Walls aligned with student’s work
- Technology center where students are able to check out: laptops, tablets, video games, and other equipment
- Digital media lab
- Assistive technology lab for students with disabilities
The learning commons is set up to provide a collaborative as well as enriching space that serves as an area where students and staff are able to meet, study, talk, use equipment, and a place for resources that help in different class settings. No longer are students that might be physically, mentally, or economically challenged left out on getting the same type of benefits, and access to educational achievement and resources. Staff also is able to check out equipment, borrow technology devices, as well as take their students to the library to learn in the media lab, or allow for students to work as a team or individually. Students have access to tutoring from senior students, teachers, or library staff, as well as quiet area that allows for studying, and reading. This space is adorned with work from students, staff, and the community to ensure that everyone has a piece involved in keeping the library program an essential part of the educational setting.
Promotion
Not only will revamp our library commons, but also provide ways in which students and staff are able to personalize their experience with the library program. This is utilized by using:
- Integrate My Big Campus into the School’s main site, and directed to our library. It is a collaborative online environment that is safely designed for students and teachers that allows for group chats, blogging, discussions, and much more. My Big Campus will serve as a free way in engaging the entire school system in not only the library activities, but also in collaboration with the school curriculum to establish active involvement in the future success of our students.
- Facebook the number one social media site in the world. It is where just about every student and staff members goes on each day, and services as a promotion tool for the library program. Our page will allow community, students, staff, and parents to engage, upload pictures, and be kept up to date on new programs, events, and books that involve our library. Will have localized Facebook Ads, Events Page, and engage in Facebook chats. This allows for greater awareness in the community, as well as sense of working together to better the lives of our students.
- Revamp the Library Website to run on BiblioCommons interface, which simplifies library searches, has capabilities akin to a social network, in which users can create profiles, review, rate books, and customize the library experience to fit each individual user. This will allow for interacting with the library, and engaging the students to utilize the library resources.
