The Rhino Sales Case: A Focus on Ethical Business Management
Introduction
The desire to save wildlife is considered as a worldwide goal that is pursued by many agencies around the globe today. It could be noted that this desire is specifically creating a distinct impact on how modern options of development are making a definite turf of change on how wild life is embraced through time as part of the modern preservation activities and options pursued in urban areas around the globe today. Africa is one of the areas in the world that is divided accordingly between urbanized and preserved locations dedicated to protecting the natural resources especially those that are considered endangered. When keeping an agency that is focused on developing programs that are supposed to conserve endangered resources, organizational administrators need to adapt particular leadership concepts that would not only deal with the actual desire of protecting the endangered species, but would also entail to provide a proper and strong foundation that would prolong the life of the program itself which is designed to give a distinct intention on how the future would be better guided into protecting the life of the endangered creations in the environment.
In this case, the existence of rhinos in the community is one of the primary matters that is aimed to be protected in several African areas. In consideration with this, South Africa’s National Environmental Management Act of 2004, provides a definite impact on how species like Rhinos are protected. The agency administering the Kruger National Park provide a definite insistence on how the resources available to create a more improved manner of creating a better environment that would be suitable in supporting the living needs of the endangered species being given attention to. However, it has been realized through time that the budget-support provided by the government through an annual grant is not enough to provide everything that is needed by the agency. The following guide questions shall be used for directed discussion:
How does a sale to a hunting and safari affect the economy?
The need to give attention to such requirement imposed by the agency is a certain goal to which solutions must be made along with accordingly. In line with this, the Kruger National Park currently adapts a system by which the mature rhinos are sold through auctions to private and public owners. Rhinos sold to zoos are considered to be the public alliances of the organization; the way they provide the public a chance to see these rhinos do not only get the chance to embrace the experience, but also to grow an interest in pursuing the desire to protect the same species at the same time. Rhinos sold through private auctions are assumed to have a greater value especially as they are reserved as game for hunting events often hosted by private agencies and private owners themselves. The gains garnered from such options of caring for rhinos are expected to be added into the overall economic cash flow; one that directly affects the way social developments are being pursued. Rhinos are currently priced between $35,000 to $ 40,000; this amount does affect the overall value of money that is taken into the economic system especially in the way particular poor African communities are helped and funded for.
How would you reduce poaching if a rhino’s horns could be cut and regrown in six years?
Nevertheless, considering that the said specie is endangered, the need to control the situation on how the species they get are sold to either public or private institutions/agencies or individuals is necessary. For instance, poaching of rhinos continue to rise because of the pricey value of the said factor that makes up a rhino’s overall worth in the market. Controlling this matter is necessary especially through measuring the growth rate of rhinos being currently protected in the parks. Helping them breed and multiply through reproduction could be pursued further. Adapting good timing in selling off batches of rhinos would also be a good sense of what is understood as a great addition to the programs that already exist in order to reestablish the way rhino-protection programs are funded and supported accordingly. Given at least six years to regrow a Rhino’s horn, taking turns in harvesting such horns must be handled under a distinct schedule that would make sure that batches of rhinos are to be separated accordingly and are to be scheduled for harvesting one particular batch at a time to make the harvest more regular and robust in result.
Conclusion
Considering this case, leadership is an important aspect of development that the agency could seriously take into account. Practically seeing through the concepts that govern the protection needed to be imposed to give attention to the existence of endangered species and how they are supposed to be preserved to improve their future capacity to exist especially to set ecological balance accordingly. When it comes to establishing developmental patterns of improvement, it is expected that good assumptions of leadership ought to be adapted accordingly, especially for the sake of improving the way the public knows about the campaigns that are supposed to define the goal that describes the overall value of the agency to the environment that it aims to protect.
Basing from the capacity of the Kruger National Park to administer programs that are necessary to provide extensive attention to the concept of preservation and development that the organization needs to deal with, it could be realized that its capacity to adapt to more effective systems of managing the current rhino resources available to the organization, administrators are given the proper chance to become more involved in the concept of preserving the said species through adapting into systems that are most capable of raising relative budget to support the maintenance and improvement operations that protective agencies are dedicated to.
