Introduction
Materialism is one of the most common words that are heard in connection with the issues of worldly pursuits. It could be analyzed that somehow, the process of defining this particular word and its role in the society has a great impact on analyzing how humans respond to its capacity to influence their ways of living. Relatively, materialism is a comprehensive term that involves the attention placed by humans upon material possessions that they are able to acquire as they pursue goals that are most often than not related to gaining amicable profit from possible hard work or other forms of trade most known as business.
Another aspect of concentration in the human society includes that of the religious affiliations that human individuals are involved in. It is with these particular affiliations that they are guided as to how they ought to live their lives, how they are supposed to lead their days and how they are to manage the ways by which they deal with others and handle conditions that would likely bring them to their goals allowing them to realize a sense of fulfillment. However, in a way, materialism and religion are viewed by many as two primary contradicting factors of social development and operations. In the discussion that follows, a presentation on how modern systems of operation actually define the supposed connection of religion and materialism that is seen by social critics as a source of modern development shall be given particular attention to.
Understanding what Materialism Is About
Material, this word specifically denotes something tangible, something that can be possessed and something that can be owned. Established as a source of human reputation, owning material possessions specifically provide a great source of recognizable reputation in the society that further improves their sense of self worth as well as how the other members of the society views them accordingly. To be able to possess material things though, humans need to make specific efforts to establish their capacity to embrace what the world is ready to give them. Notably, one of which is that of the need to counter define morals against the value of material things.
Relatively, some people see that moral values and its application often hinder a person from actually having a better course of identifying their capacity to own more. The willingness to forget moral implications specifically impose the willingness of one to do almost anything, including unethical measures and conditions so as to simply own something and identify themselves relatively worthy of the recognition they hope to receive from the society. This is the reason why some critics view business as a rather dirty arena of greedy individuals who would engage in almost anything including unethical matters involving immoral ways of living. But should this be the real meaning of business, profit earning and materialism? Does morality have no place in the realm of business operations?
Conclusion
As mentioned earlier, one’s religion and its principles often dictates how one is supposed to deal with matters that come in his life. It could be realized that somehow, the capacity of a person to stick to his religious beliefs and moral foundations establish conflict especially when it comes to making possible conditions of expanding one’s capacity to earn more. To be able to follow one’s moral rules, he must be able to sacrifice his own desires, a matter that is seen by enthusiasts of business development to be rather weak and specifically unrelenting to the actual goal of gaining money.
However, there is also something that is called good and moral business operations. In this case, business is simply seen as a source of income and not the main priority of those embracing it. Through the years, there had been companies that have become successful enough in reaching their goals especially in relation to their capacity to comprehend and respond with their corporation-responsibilities. Notably, these companies have been given exceptional reputation and recognition putting them in the place of those that are well-noted for great operations that are able to provide more for what the society basically needs.
True, contrary to what others believe, business and morality could work hand in hand together to create a more refined system of development especially in the field of trading industries. With religious principles applied to negate the greedy desires of materialism, gaining a more well-defined role for business organizations could be garnered hence creating a balanced consideration between material goals and moral values as applied in the human society. Willingly, business owners could provide the best source of social confidence on their operations as they apply the principles of moral and ethical considerations as they continue to pursue rightful material gains that they deserve to receive in return for their extensive efforts.
