The Role of Technology Changed in the Health Care Environment, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 322

Research Paper

The current situation in delivery of health care is associated with exceptional tidal waves of transformation. Initially, health care was delivered through processes involving independent practice that functioned in an environment of fee-for-service. This system is currently being replaced by health care delivery systems that are highly coordinated that enhance management of populations as well as functioning in an environment that is based on performance (David  & McClellan, 2001).

Achievement of high echelons of transformation in the systems of health care delivery is a long term endeavor that is associated with some challenges as well generational issues. The applicable tools that will facilitate success in this situation require evolution on equal measures as transformations in technology in health care. The conventional documentation of patient records was on paper. This is one of the most important areas in a health care setting that technology has significantly changed the health care environment. The use of Electronic Medical records has facilitated for the replacement of paper with e-chart. The new technology in this respect makes use of efficient coding that ascertains that all services that are offered are captured and therefore, no service can go unpaid (George, 2005). The aging service spectrum is an important feature in contemporary health care practice and advanced technology has to be adopted so as to meet the needs of the aging service spectrum.

It is also imperative to note that, life expectancy is assuming an upward trend in a majority of the health care settings, thus necessitating the adoption of technology to augment service delivery. Technology plays a vital role as a tool in health care that maximize delivery of services coupled with assisting healthy aging across the board.
