The young Asian trainee was unfortunate since he lost his job. However, he is the one to blame since he did not adhere to the steps of whistleblowing. One needs to follow several steps when addressing personal problems in an organization. In his case, he wrote long letters to the senior managers of the company, and others worldwide, because he felt that his treatment was unfair. He should have followed several steps to address his complaints. Firstly, he should have approached his immediate manager and presented his complaints. He ignored this step and went straight to the top authority. Secondly, he did not discuss this issue with his family. This is because his family is directly connected to his welfare.

In addition, since he hid not forward his complaints to his immediate manager, it was impossible for him to take the matter to the next level. He did not also contact the Company’s Ethics Officer. His complaint was based on ethics, and hence, it was necessary to report to Ethics Officer. The only step he followed was going outside the chain of command since he sent a message to about 30000 senior managers worldwide. However, his action was useless since he had not adhered to the previous steps of whistleblowing. The last step involves developing alternatives, which he did not consider.

From this comparison, the young trainee did not follow the steps of whistleblowing. His decision ruined the reputation of the company. As the head of human resource stated, his complaints could have solved if he had talked to the senior management only. Therefore, in a workplace, it is necessary follow the step of whistleblowing if one feels his or her rights are being violated. In this way, issues of rights violation are solved and the complainant advised accordingly.
