The War That Made America, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 290

Essay

The French and Indian war (often called the Seven Years War) is a part of the history that many Americans have little or no knowledge about. While it is, according to some historians one of the most fascinating parts of the American history, the label: “The War that Made America” is often debated.

The Impact of the French and Indian War

While the British managed to expand their territory into French colonies during the 7 year struggle and bloodshed. The balance of power was overturned and some experts state (Anderson, ) that it laid the foundation within the country for the American Revolution that followed. The war started the process of scattered colonies forming a nation and becoming independent.

What Turned the Course of History

As a result of the war, colonies were forced to act together and become allies in the war. This resulted in a higher level of organization that led to unity in the colonies. The British Empire also went through a reorganization process in order to take control of colonies’ authorities. As a result, Britain became burdened with debt and started looking at ways to manage colonies and create profits in North America. The organization of the country (or part of the country) began and imperialism was creating new opportunities in the new world.

Conclusion

Indeed, the formation of a nation would not have started if the colonies were not organized during the 7 year war. Further, Britain imposing control and authority over colonies has helped the colonies unite against the common enemy, resulting in the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence. Therefore, the label “The War that Made America” is justified.
