Words: 310

Essay

In order to articulate the potential benefits and/or barriers from selected translation science methods that serve to shape the advanced practice environment it is important to consider to the complex aspects that are related to the process.  There are many advantages to translating the findings of basic science and utilizing them in the application of medical endeavors.  These include the speed at which the research can be done as well as the ability to create better products in this period.  In this way, the benefits of the process include the alleviation of the congestion of traditional methods.

The main benefits of applying these methods is the expedition of clinical drug trials.  Traditionally, the advance of drug trials were slow, and the research and communications methods that were used to do so were not fast enough to keep up with the pace of the developments.  “However, such barriers between clinical and basic research can be overcome by the translational approach since basic and clinical researchers work more as a team and use iterative communication strategies while the research is being designed, conducted, and analyzed” (Kockaya, 2010).

Due to the fact that these types of studies are relatively new, individuals who have the proper skills to take part are not as prevalent as what would be necessary.  The biggest problem with translational science methods are, therefore, that the results of the research are difficult to reproduce.  For this reason, the process has not been as widely adapted as what would be expected from the benefits of the process.  These barriers are, however, not criteria that will completely hinder the development of the process.  For this reason, the ability to do so has been increasingly prominent.
