Willis, D., Reflections in Black: A History of Black Poetry, 1840 to the Present (2000).

This article reflects on a notable phase in the history of black Americans which is clearly explained by literary works like poems such as “Harlem.” Here the poem is critically analyzed with a summary of the themes, styles, figure of speech, graphic sights and smells as well as the text of the poem is give. It also has commentaries from various literary scholars who give their different views on the significance of the poem in the society.

This is a detailed analysis of Langston Hughes’ poem ‘Harlem’ that analyses what basically happens to dreams whet they are not realized as explained in the poem. It also explains the various types of images used by the poet to bring out his theme and communicate his message to the reader.

The article, a cognitive analysis of poetry and Robert Frost examine three poems by Robert Frost. One of the poems is The Road Not Taken and the figurative languages used by the poet in this poem have been explored in this article. The article also attempts to explain the functions of the figures to act persuasively in a cognitive manner. It takes the critical analysis beyond just identifying the figures to explaining their persuasive functions.

The article America is alive presents well known poets related to literature in the US. One of these poets is by Robert Frost. It gives a brief biography of Robert Frost from a young age and discusses his struggles while growing up and the making of his career as a writer. It compares the two roads that come up in the poem representing the many choices people make in life and the importance of making wise decisions.
