Volunteer This Christmas, Outline Example

Specific Purpose:  To inform my audience about the benefits of volunteering this Christmas.

Central Idea:  If you want to make a difference, volunteering this Christmas is how to do it.

Introduction:

• Are you looking to buy some affordable gifts?
• Do you want to help needy people this Christmas?
• Are you trying to find joy, peace and fulfillment this Christmas? (Transition:  Today I am going to tell you how you can achieve all of these three.)

Body: I. I am going to tell you why and how to become a Volunteer this Christmas.

• There are many needy people who are unable to buy any Christmas food and toys.

There exist various food banks that provide food and toy hampers—as well as

Christmas dinners—to such families.  To accomplish this, they require volunteers and donations.  Volunteering this Christmas for the needy is an affordable gift that you can give and that, in turn, will give you joy, peace, and fulfillment.

• To volunteer with an agency of your choice, simply apply.  Most of them have a   variety of available volunteer jobs; such as:
• Kettle bell ringers (Salvation Army)
• Pick up donations and stock shelves
• Make up food and toy hampers
• Help serve Christmas dinners and wash dishes
• Deliver hampers to the frail elderly and to the shut-ins.

Conclusion:  Thank-you for your time; and, please, consider volunteering this Christmas.
