Introduction
Conventional warfare of every kind dating back to thousands of years back into history has always been dogged by the inevitable consequence of wounded servicemen during the course of duty. Experience has proven that often times under the most ideal circumstance the cost of loosing combatants can be greatly reduced if medical service can be offered to wounded soldiers during times of battle. It is against this background that in this research, important attention will be focussed on looking at the issue of medical treatment of battlefield casualties. Historically, the advent of medical service on the battleground came in response to dire medical needs that the Canadian Army specifically encountered during battle moments.
With these lingering historical experiences, the incorporation of medical brigades during combat operations became naturally unavoidable. In this webliography research, attention is focussed on getting detailed information both contemporary and historical that continues to justify the need for medical teams to be deployed in combat situations as well as specifically looking at the roles they play during such activities. Among the online sources that have been consulted in the process includes: 1. Wikipedia an online encyclopaedia, the official website of the Veterans Association of Canada and the Juno Beach website. The World Wide Web provides unlimited access to information of any kind including what is relevant to this current research work which is indeed a plus but the difficulties that comes with it also includes authenticity and reliability questions.

Description (100-150 words max.)
The Juno Beach Center website is an online museum committed to providing the same service as traditional museums. But this museum is basically dedicated towards the preservation and highlighting of Canada’s participation in the different wars that characterized its immediate past history, notably the Second World War. Bearing in mind that the Canadian Army participated in several wars, the museum serves to preserve the legacies of these moments in history for the benefit of posterity. The website provides links to a series of other related issues still within the broad framework of the war effort in addition to the fact that the website has pretty much attractive design structures appealing to the visitor. |

Personal comment (100-150 words max.)
[The website is useful in providing a coherent historical account of Canada’s military contribution in the Second World War from the broader perspective. It also has been helpful in providing photographic accounts of practical medical engagements during the heat of the battles. What it however does not do is provide tentative medical activities in specific terms besides the general touch it has given to the subject matter. It does provide good proof of what it says and to some extent in response to what I need in my research work. |

Description (100-150 words max.)
The website is the official website providing information about the Veterans Association of Canada. It therefore effectively represents all registered veterans who participated in war activities in the name of the Canadian state. It aims among other things to provide information about the association amongst members of the association as well as providing the same token of relevant information to third parties like me seeking information that relates to the association as a unit or its members. It provides useful links to almost everything that concerns veterans in Canada and also the design and layout are well presented. It does also present good information about pioneering medical practice in the Canadian Armed Forces. |

Personal comment (100-150 words max.)
Like the previously stated website, this one is also very general in its outlook on military and warfare history under the auspices of Canadian soldiers. It only addresses the medical aspect from a historical perspective and how that evolved into forming the need for medical personnel in regular battle engagements to provide first hand services to wounded servicemen. It represents the men and women who have seen it all when it comes to military deployments during warfare. Consequently, they are a reliable source of information about aspects of their former profession. Indeed, the website is consist in providing information about the role of nurses and other paramedics in the treatment of battlefield casualties. |

Description (100-150 words max.)
The website is from the English language free online encyclopedia. The website is actually multilingual in the provision of its fee-content service. It is uniquely distinguished by its inbuilt provision for open-editing of the content of any written text. The view is to make it possible for visitors to make routine customization of any material contained in it. Its writers are anonymous and therefore subject to some questions of authenticity, originality and reliability. The website does address the issue of medical treatment of battlefield casualties very remotely but has the options to enter a list of several other links that have some relation though not directly to the topic area being researched. |

The Wikipedia online encyclopedia is reputed for having the single advantage of providing quick information but the information it provides often lacks originality and does not meet conventional academic standards in the strictest terms. As a means of gathering preliminary information to enhance deeper research, then this website may prove to be useful. It is also good in providing somewhat useful links to other equally would be useful information and a lot of times it has a good chronicle of references which may not necessarily be properly cited within the text of the information contained in the website as a whole. With regards to my research interest, it provided pretty much scanty information nonetheless. |
Excerpts From the Selected Websites
[Battlefield medicine, also called field surgery and later combat casualty care, is the treatment of wounded soldiers in or near an area of combat. Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_medicine
[In addition to civilian practice and research, doctors and other medical practitioners were needed in the Army. By the end of the European war, 34,786 personnel had served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (RCAMC), including 3656 nursing sisters, and the Corps suffered 107 fatal battle casualties.
In choosing to enlist, medical personnel were subject to the sort of regimentation one would expect from the army. Taken from http://www.junobeach.org/e/4/can-tac-med-org-e.htm
In the North-West Rebellion of 1885, Canadian nurses performed formal military service for the first time. In April of that year, orders were issued from Ottawa requesting that a medical and surgical department be organized for service in the Northwest. Conclusion
Clearly, there is no doubt that the advent of the internet and the World Wide Web has been phenomenally part of the information revolution that is sweeping our day and age. Consequently, the internet provides a useful pool for conducting any research activity by dint of the presence of enormous materials to support the process. What is also true within this context is that there is a subtle cramp of junk materials also loaded on the World Wide Web which may not be useful in aiding research. A major challenge in conducting a web based research lies in the ability to be able to discern between relevant information from what is chaff. In that regard one needs to be fairly acquainted with the basic rudiments of judgment which will ultimately serve as a safeguard against wasting quality time to turn out irrelevant stuff from a diligent research work.
The experience gathered here clearly equips me to launch into future web based research work with some aura of certainty.
The internet based researching process is no doubt very convenient because of the significant ease that technology has brought to bare—in other words speed, precision and comfort have become buzz words of internet based research work but an unguided obsession with this exposes the vulnerability of misleading information gathering and eventual sub-standard research work.
