What It Means to Call the Bible a Word of God, Essay Example

The concept outlines the contribution of God in the writing of the Bible. It elaborates on the mechanism by which the authors received instructions from the creator while writing different characters. The authors had a unique connection that allowed them to communicate with God while putting down their points. Not everyone could write the Bible, but only a section of the people was loyal and chosen by the spirit. They had all it required to write the book. God inspired the Bible, and all authors who took part in writing received instructions and the word to write. The New Testament book connects with the old testament, showing the book’s power. Paul affirmed the argument when he wrote to Timothy, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The verse shows the key to the main argument about the book’s origin. Many have tried to refute the statement but still, need solid arguments that may bring it down. The Bible contains a holy message that is very new daily, making it hard to connect it with any human power. Human power is very weak and may be unable to write such an inspiration. However, humanists also argue that the Bible is like other books written in history since there was no connection between the writers and the creator. For example, they argue that many contraindications make it unfit to include God in writing. This paper will analyze the two sections of the argument and determine why the Bible remains a holy book inspired by God.

The arguments

God inspires the Bible since it is reliable and dependable. John writes that Jesus came to fulfill the word of God and that he was the word (John 1:1). If Jesus is God and the word is Jesus, then it shows that the writers were only vessels used to show the direction and used to write the Bible. For example, Daniel communicates with God while writing the book and manifesting several prophecies. All the writers had unique connections with the creator making its holy book. John reminds us that Jesus came to fulfill the word. Hence fulfilling the word means what the father wrote about the future was to be accomplished. How can God participate in human desires and come to fulfill what does not belong to him? Therefore, if Jesus could come and fulfill the words written in the old testament by different writers like Prophet Isaiah, it would show that God has inspired the words. The Bible serves the purpose of teaching, rebuking, and correcting, which allows humans to live in his glory. The phrase is very important since it does not explain that we use the Bible to live according to our glory but to God’s glory; hence if the Bible were not inspired, it would have always led humans to their selfish will. Humans always have desires that define their destiny. However, the verse clearly says that we used to live a holy life that praises God and not humans. Therefore, this justifies that the word is inspired. Also, the writers needed help understanding what they wrote but only followed the instructions on what they should write.

Most writers did not understand the events and the concepts they talked about until God revealed the meaning of what they wrote. Peter affirms that they did not understand what they wrote but remained patient and obeyed God’s instructions, which helped them to prepare and complete the book. He says, “Concerning this salvation, the prophets who predicted the grace that would come to you searched and investigated carefully…they probed into what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he testified beforehand about the sufferings appointed for Christ and his subsequent glory.” (1 Peter 1:10-11 NET). If it was written without any inspiration, they could understand all the things and routines they were working with and interpret it to the people. However, they could not understand all the concepts until God showed them what to put down. Therefore, the book is holy and was inspired by the father.

However, humanists do not agree with the arguments since they have different basis and reasons to believe the Bible was not inspired. The Bible has two parts that contain contradictions making it infallible. Too many contradictions show that the message in the book is false and does not have clear inspiration from the creator. This makes it a human project. For example, Genesis I says that both humans were med at the same time, while chapter two outlines a different period and hierarchy of creation. The book also outlines that God made the heavens and earth on one day, but chapter two says that it took seven days to complete the entire process. Jeremiah 7:22 God does not agree for the people to take part in the sacrifices of animals, while Exodus 29: 38 outlines how God commanded the people to hand over and make sacrifices for the atonement of their iniquities. The contradictions show that humans wrote the Bible. God is perfect and cannot make mistakes; hence the existence of such mistakes in the book does not qualify it to be inspired by God. The writers show that God approved violence. This may be false since God loves and will not wish his children to be subjected to violence. Many sections show how writers approved that God condoned violence and responded to the enemies of the beloved nation. Suppose God created all the people who chose and led others to stay in the desert. This claim perfectly matches the writers who formed their own stories trying to incorporate God in their violent thinking and behavior. The writers compare humans to God when they write that wen is perfect as the father. This show that God can also be sinful because we assume his nature, and he can also assume our nature. Suppose we can assume the nature of God, then why are we still languishing in sin and suffering? The writers were not guided in their writing, which made them incompetent in providing their points and reasoning about the Bible. Hence the confusion about God’s nature affirms that the writers did not have any inspiration but only used their intuition and moral guideline in writing the book.

Analysis

The first argument on the reason for the inspiration of the Bible outlines how the Bible supports itself and how God proves himself in the Bible. The argument is strong since it shows that God is the word, and the word is God. this shows that writers could not write their words and dedicate them to God or sell ownership to God. God is superior and dominates his word. Also, the arguments are strong since it outlines how the authors needed help understanding what they wrote. No one can decide to write. They only know or understand if they have an instructor. This also provides a strong basis for why the book was inspired and not written on humans’ will. The weakness of the points is teaching; humans can use their morals and define a teaching strategy without incorporating God. The opinions on why God did not inspire the book rely on the contradictions and wars. These points are strong in that powerful being, and all-knowing account confused his subjects. He must be clear on what points he wants to make and why he wants to make them. Then he must also protect the subjects and may not subject them to war. However, these points fail to outline theta the author received inspiration from; hence they could not understand what they wrote about God and nature. The opinions supporting that God did not inspire the word have weak and unstable points that may not stand out. The violence was a result of a difference between the kingdoms, and God did not make them fight. You cannot blame God on the basis that they are fighting, yet they believe in one being. The books narrated all events as they were instructed. Therefore, the word was inspired since the supporting arguments have a basis and roots that make the Bible new daily. Many people have confirmed that the gospel is new and does not grow weary making it the best book for correction and inspiration since it contains inspiration from the creator.
