Who Is Responsible for Human Resources Management? Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 266

Essay

In different organizations, the individual who the responsibility of human resources management falls to can be different. In large organizations, there is typically one individual who holds the role of human resources manager and he or she is responsible for directly reporting to the owner or the leader of the company. In other organizations, this task can fall to managers and even owners depending on how the hierarchy of the company has been arranged. Furthermore, there are many organizations with just one human resources representative that acts as the manager due to the small size of the department. These individuals will implement policies, supervise the hiring process, manage pay, and train employees as needed. As a consequence, the individual responsibilities of a human resources worker or human resources manager can vary significantly based on the type of organization that an individual works for.

Typically, individuals that are assigned human resources responsibilities have had specialized training for the job, which could include either a specialized degree program or on the job experience. In some cases, individuals are hired to this position internally because their manager believes that they know the company well enough in order to perform the job well. Despite the path that human resources professionals have followed to reach their current occupation, it is generally expected that these individuals continue to immerse themselves in education related to current practices in the field. As a result, many subscribe to professional journals and conduct research in order to keep up with best practices. In this manner, even self-taught individuals could come to succeed as a human resources professional.
