Why I Chose Psychology, Reaction Paper Example

Throughout Myer’s “Psychology” coursebook, as well as the lectures pertaining the psychology course from this semester, I have learned a great deal. From the biology of the mind, to critical thinking all the way to understanding the concept of the collective unconscious, I feel fortunate to be walking away from this class with a plethora of new knowledge. Most of what I learned throughout the class was knew to me, but a few of the things that I was taught or read about particularly stick out in my head.

Learning about the various parts of the brain and the way they interact with the body was fascinating. For example, before this class I had no knowledge of what association areas were and how they were related to a person’s cerebral cortex. Nor did I know that the medulla was the base of the brain stem and controlled the heartbeat. This fascinated me and made me want to learn more.

Now I am walking away from the class with many more answers than I had when I walked into the class, but also with a wealth of questions left unanswered that I can not wait to explore. I am excited to continue learning about the brain and how it affects the human body. Psychology is definitely a field that interests me and this course opened my eyes to many new ideas that I had never heard of before. I can not wait to continue my studies in the field of psychology and see where my education takes me.
