Women’s Positive Impact on the Entertainment and Media Industry, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 254

Essay

How women can have a positive impact on the entertainment and media industry? In order for women to have a positive impact on the entertainment and media industry, they have to be more than just the pretty faces or a size smaller. Take for example Oprah, Maya Angelou and Mother Teresa. What do they have in common? They are “every woman”. Meaning to say, they are the representation of what a woman should be: strong, independent, smart, loving and not superficial. Every woman in the society must be able to relate to how women are presented in the media. There should be substance in the character rather than being promoted as sex and domestic goddesses. Gone are the days when women are just mere housekeepers and stay-at-home moms. As a matter of fact, new grounds have been broken and women are taking on obligations, jobs and responsibilities that have previously been known only to men. Noticeably, the popular media is now presenting women in a different light- a different womanhood paradigm wherein women can easily balance work, social life and family. That is exactly what the women in the society need. Positive influences that can help women see their true value, their potential and everything that they can be. The bottom line is there should be more iconic women that they can relate to and will encourage them to pursue personal achievement without neglecting their womanhood. The media is a strong avenue for empowerment and it should be used for the empowerment of women.
