Abortion is murder of powerless, blameless and helpless baby that can do nothing to protect itself from this heartless killing. Abortion should be made illegal because it is a murder no matter what any one believes in. The fact that a possible life is brought to an end before being given an opportunity to live is enough reason for people and the government to understand why no one at all should be given the privilege of deciding whether the baby dies or lives. This privilege can be denied through illegalizing abortion and hence anyone who commits abortion is prosecuted and faces the law as having committed murder.
Abortion is wrong, so why is it not illegal?
However, illegalizing abortion would kill more women. This is because if a woman feels like procuring abortion she will go ahead and do it whether it is legal or not. This will thus force more women to procure backstreet abortion and in most cases, many might die because of the unsafe methods used to terminate the pregnancy (Helga 89-93). Moreover, there is no need of messing the life of a young girl who would have bright future just because she slipped once and got pregnant. Incase such a girl underwent abortion she would be able to continue with her education and accomplish her dreams. Still the right of giving birth should entirely be left to the woman because she is the one who will have the burden of bringing up the child. Illegalizing would forfeit the woman to choose what to do with her body. Furthermore, incase the woman feels she cannot support the child financially; she ought to be given a chance to chose what she is able to do (Bernard 56). There is no need of giving birth to a child and eventually make him suffer in poverty. The anguish of your child ending up as a street boy is too much to bear and it is somehow logical to save the child from this. Better still, may be the child that is aborted, could have been a total disaster to the society, who knows?
It is clear that legalizing abortion does not guarantee an abortion that is safe. With legalization, more women are demanding it thus the medical services become scarce. Thus with it being legalized and more women feeling free to procure it, such women put their health at a risk. Abortion brings life long health risks to the woman who goes through it and also is still dangerous to the person (Janet 65). We have encountered so many deaths of women while undergoing abortion. Some women bleed to death while procuring abortion and some even lose their potential to ever get pregnant again just because of aborting one child. Incase an abortion backfires, the woman may lose her uterus and thus such a woman will never be in a position to give birth again. When abortion is induced, it leads to so many problems in the future pregnancies and diseases in reproductive system. Depression can also come by because the woman maybe will never forgive herself for killing and the obscure images she witnessed while aborting will entirely remain embedded in her memory. Such images can be scary and tormenting to the mother and hence the mother might get depressed. Some women live with emotional scars and self blame for having killed their own children. There have been cases of women who have had ghostly images of the baby they ever aborted. Basically, to save such people from such horrible emotional breakdowns, such women would rather give birth. Logically, incase the woman does not want the child she may give birth and give the infant for adoption and hence preserving the health of both the mother and the child. God has availed so many childless couples to adopt such children.
Life starts after conception and the embryo is human life that is new, genetically different and which has liveliness and a course of its own from the instant of conception (Jon 8). Conception occurs when there is fusion between a female and male germ cells through fertilization thus human life starts immediately there is a joining together of a male and a female gametes. Fertilization or rather conception begins through a process right away when sperms meets an ovum, fusion occurs followed by combination of their chromosomes and new cell end up forming. The ovum having been fertilized by the sperm eventually forms a zygote, which later divides into an embryo and this marks the beginning of human being. Life is a process and a process has to start from somewhere hence life starts after conception. If there was no life that had started, why would someone abort? Definitely, it is not possible to abort or kill something that is not viable. Still, even when a child is born, it grows, matures and develops constantly. Human are never fully developed and when they are born, they grow, age and change. Thus this development starts when fertilization occurs and the initial developments of a human being start at mothers womb for nine months then born to develop further.
Aborting during the third tri-semester is solely immoral. During this tri-semester the fetus has reached viability and can even survive incase born prematurely. This means that aborting at this time is merely killing an almost fully formed baby. The pictures and videos available for most abortions performed at the third tri-semester clearly indicate how horrible it is to abort. At this time most of the internal developments are complete and the baby is only gaining weight and increasing in size. The women who abort at this time murder a fully formed child and they witness this after the child comes out. The baby aborted at this time sometimes cries due to pain. This episode should even touch the most inhuman person. But sadly, these people are inhuman enough to kill this innocent child even having fully developed. I wish these people were human enough to save this fully developed child the torment and pain and just give the baby a chance to live.
Abortion could lead to a society loosing a very important person. This person could have been so helpful to the society yet his/her life was ended. And still, instead of aborting, such women incase it the child they do not want they could give birth and then give child for adoption. There are so many barren women and childless couples would wish to have the ability of conceiving yet these lucky ones undermine the worthiness of such luck and kill the child. If only it is these women without the ability to give birth who were endowed with ability to conceive rather than these murderous human beings who kill in the name of abortion. A woman if she feels she cannot support a child, it is only fair to give birth and give to these childless couples.
Catholic Church views direct abortion as a very serious offence and going against the 5th Commandment that states that no one should kill. The catechism in Catholic Church teaches that from the first time a human being is formed, a human being should be acknowledged as possessing the rights of a person one of them being uninfringeable right of every blameless being to life. Moreover, ever since the foremost century, Catholic Church has always stated categorically the moral evil that comes with each abortion that is procured. The statement has not changed and remains the same. Direct abortion in regard to abortion done either to end or a means graves goes against the moral laws. Catholic Church emphasizes that the unconditional right to life of every innocent human being is a constitutive constituent of a civil civilization and its legislation. Still, Roman Catholic Church is against any process that the main aim is to obliterate an embryo or fetus.
Today, the church firmly states that the first right of the human individual is his life and that life is understood to start at fertilization. Again, the church deems that equality of all human life is elementary and absolute, any discrimination is evil. Consequently, even if a woman’s life is endangered, choosing her life over her child’s is no less bias between two lives – and therefore ethically unacceptable. As a result, an abortion to hoard the life of a mother is objectionable. Catholics who secure or get involved an abortion are excommunicated from the church as long as she or he is aware of the penalty at the time the abortion has occurred. Destroying the embryo is also the same as procuring an abortion according to the Roman Catholic Church. The direct intermission of the generative development already started and, most of all, all direct abortion, even for curative reasons, are to be completely excluded as legal means of modifying the number of children. However, the church does not express disapproval of procedures that lead to the loss of a child who is not born as a secondary effect, indirectly. For example, if a pregnant mother suffers from ectopic pregnancy, the physician could remove the fallopian tube while treating the mother to prevent the mother from dying. Obviously, the child will not survive after this but because the reason for the process was not kill the child, it is not considered as an abortion.
It is the duty of the community to legally guard the life of unborn child. The church does not support any law that robs a group of human beings of the fortification which civil legislation is supposed to accord them; the situation is denying the impartiality of all before the law. The nation should use its power to serve and protect the rights of everyone especially the most vulnerable ones like unborn children whose chances of living depend solely on the mother’s decision. This is the reason why the church encourages the provision of the law which should have suitable penal permit for every premeditated infringement of the child’s rights. This enhances the respect and fortification which must be availed for the unborn child from the instant of conception. Catholics politicians who campaign for tolerant abortion laws ought to be cautioned by their priests to stop receiving Holy Communion and are also rebuffed the Eucharist till they change their views regarding abortion (Moore Section 2).
Abortion is immoral because is equivalent to murder of human life even before this life is given a chance to live. It is apparent to conclude that abortion is not a solution to the problems women face in their work places, financials or in the society but it is plain murder. Even the women who undergo abortion are aware of the fact that they are doing something wrong. No wonder no ones declares publicly that they have had an abortion. Also the women who procure abortion do it secretly and would even not like their closest friends and family to get to know of it. This is because they know they are doing something that is not morally right. This is the same as killing an innocent human being. The loss of this innocent child’s deprives hi or her of so many things she/he would have otherwise enjoyed in the future. Killing the unborn child is completely immoral because it imposes the greatest probable loss on the victim.
The people who abort illustrate their moral decay to the level that they no longer care about human life. When they abort, they deny this possible child what she or he values, which would have been component of his or her future and also what the child would have valued. Therefore, when a child is aborted, it is deprived the whole of its future. Imposing this loss to the unborn is what makes abortion merely immoral and wrong (Maureen 21). For example a cancer victim who is certain of his death feels very sad because he knows he is about to lose the future that would have otherwise provided a lot of opportunities and challenges to him. Thus it is very immoral and so unsympathetic to take this future from someone. This means that the person who aborts does not value the future and the values of anyone. Abortion is also immoral because people who abort end up getting swallowed in extramarital sex. They abort in order to go back to their immoral activities, thus they deem abortion as shortcut to their questionable morals and a solution still incase when they get pregnant and want to continue with their immoralities. Thus abortion sends and encourages immorality especially to the young women. Definitely, a person who aborts is immoral since she kills and does not care about the life and values of the unborn baby. The moral status of the fetus too ought to be considered; in this case, it is gravely wrong to kill another person in the moral sense because the fetus has the right to live (Cynthia 32-41). One would just imagine the anguish that the innocent child goes through. Being murdered for no fault and being denied an opportunity to live. May be the people who abort should also consider that the child goes through lot of pain while being murdered! No morally upright person would want another to go through this pain.
Conclusion
As much as some people support abortion and give reasons for their stand, abortion is murder because it terminates the life of an already developing life. Legalizing abortion is indistinguishable from legalizing murder. We should not despise fetus in the womb, they are developing and human development is a process. No one should support killing of any human life. Moreover, aborting comes with deathly consequences like health complications and serious emotional problems due to guilty. Lastly, God is the giver of life and only him who should take it no matter how insignificant it seems.
