Has reading disabilities specifically related to reading comprehension and has poor writing skills

 

 

Objectives/Activities:

Student will track his reading comprehension through refreshing questions

 

Student will find a way to respond to story summary through the use of his memory recall abilities

 

Student will try to recall situations based on visual aid presentations

 

Accommodation/modification Type :

 

1. Description :

Time : student will be given at least two minutes every paragraph that has been read to make sure he is able to internalize the story. After the two minute break, he will be asked some clarifying questions just to know of he can still follow with the story.

Rationale:

This shall allow the student keep his track on the narrative being read and allow the teacher to evaluate both his attention and comprehension on the story.

 

2. Description :

Size : the story shall be asked to be summarized by the student in his own words

Rationale:

This will allow the student to assess himself as to how much he remembers from the story and how he is able to retell its most important parts hence stimulating him to recall and use his memory for the activity.

 

3. Description :

Degree of Participation : Use of flash cards on the different events of the story read that shall be rearranged by the student according to what has happened in the story.

 

Rationale:

This shall stimulate memory recall on the part of the student as he tries to remember what has happened in the story through the use of the images he sees from the cards.

Functioning 2-4 years before the actual age range. The development is then slow and learning process is gradual

The student will be asked to draw an imagery of what he understood to stimulate his creativity alongside his comprehension capabilities

 

The student shall be asked to read and record his own voice to instill personal evaluation practice.

1. Description :

Level of Support : Reading aloud slowly with the student

Rationale:

To help the learner find time to understand the story without rush or pressure of time for the process of comprehension

 

2. Description :

Alternative goal : putting the student’s imagination at work through asking him to interpret the story through drawing the most remarkable event in the narrative that he can relate to.

Rationale:

Instead of simply pushing the student to read and understand, this activity would help him use his imagination to see what he understood on the story based on what imagery he can form out of it.

 

3. Description :

Alternative goal : use of auditory aid to enhance interest in reading and improve self-based evaluation of the student

Rationale:

Reading and recording the story for the student to hear the narrative could be an effective appraoch to get the attention of the learner and have him focus on the story for quite some time.
