Describe special needs:

Has reading disabilities specifically related to reading comprehension and has poor writing skills

Objectives/Activities:

Student will track his reading comprehension through refreshing questions

Student will find a way to respond to story summary through the use of his memory recall abilities

Student will try to recall situations based on visual aid presentations

1. Description :

Time : student will be given at least two minutes every paragraph that has been read to make sure he is able to internalize the story. After the two minute break, he will be asked some clarifying questions just to know of he can still follow with the story.

Rationale:

This shall allow the student keep his track on the narrative being read and allow the teacher to evaluate both his attention and comprehension on the story.

2. Description :

Size : the story shall be asked to be summarized by the student in his own words

Rationale:

This will allow the student to assess himself as to how much he remembers from the story and how he is able to retell its most important parts hence stimulating him to recall and use his memory for the activity.

3. Description :

Degree of Participation : Use of flash cards on the different events of the story read that shall be rearranged by the student according to what has happened in the story.

Rationale:

This shall stimulate memory recall on the part of the student as he tries to remember what has happened in the story through the use of the images he sees from the cards.

Mild-intellectual disability:

Functioning 2-4 years before the actual age range. The development is then slow and learning process is gradual

Objectives/Activities:

The student will be asked to draw an imagery of what he understood to stimulate his creativity alongside his comprehension capabilities

The student shall be asked to read and record his own voice to instill personal evaluation practice.

Level of Support : Reading aloud slowly with the student

Rationale:

To help the learner find time to understand the story without rush or pressure of time for the process of comprehension

2. Description :

Alternative goal : putting the student’s imagination at work through asking him to interpret the story through drawing the most remarkable event in the narrative that he can relate to.

Rationale:

Instead of simply pushing the student to read and understand, this activity would help him use his imagination to see what he understood on the story based on what imagery he can form out of it.

3. Description :

Alternative goal : use of auditory aid to enhance interest in reading and improve self-based evaluation of the student

Rationale:

Reading and recording the story for the student to hear the narrative could be an effective appraoch to get the attention of the learner and have him focus on the story for quite some time.

Has strong skills in creative writing but has slow response to reading comprehension activities

Objectives/Activities:

The student shall be assisted to note how she understands the story part by part to reduce pressure and tension on her comprehension skills.

The student shall be helped to appreciate the story that has been read through incorporating her own talent into assuming her understanding of the narrative.

Difficulty : Reading the story part-by-part

Rationale:

To assist the student have a clearer understanding on how the events took place in the story in a gradual manner

2. Description :

Output : Application of writing as part of comprehension evaluation

Rationale:

To help the student remember what has been read through utiling her skills in writing and stimulating her memory to respond to the task.

3. Description :

Output : use of writing skill to create a story related to the one that has been read

Rationale:

Since the student’s strength is on creative writing, perhaps creating a story of her own that defines how she sees the story that has been read could help her anticipate the relation of the narrative with her own ideas and thus be able to create her own story out of what she has read.

Describe special needs:

Has a strong vocabulary response recognition skill but poor reading comprehension capabilities.

Has strength in computer and writing skills.

Objectives/Activities:

The student will learn how imagery could relate to the story and how he would basically respond to such stimulation of imagination.

The student will be asked to put his thoughts into writing through the use of his own words which is part of his learning strengths.

Rationale:

To help the learner imagine with the use of animated characters that he can visually appreciate

Difficulty: using written activity response as form of evaluation

Rationale:

To help the student put his thoughts into writing based on what he understood about the story.

3. Description :

Degree of Participation : use of computer-aided evaluation test

Rationale:

To get and retain the attention of the student during the evaluation test through involving computer-based procedures that allows him to use his skills and stimulate his memory regarding the story.
